Since when have you thought that cramming more people together makes you more social. It does just the opposite, look at any City compared to Small Towns.

Isolation is a huge problem in China especially in there Cities. They have a lot of Farming Communities and Small Villages that are very Social but that has nothing to do with 1.6 Billion People and more to do with the lack of a large Population in these small communities.
