I am really looking forward to play the game, but when I played it on fanfest the graphic was really bad. But I was also told that the version we played was 3 month old and it would look much better allready

I have read about all reviews of the game after fanfest and they are most positiv, but I stumbled on this yesterday and its the first really bad review of Dust 514 even when the writers had been invited by CCP

http://www.gamer.no/artikler/108205/sniktitt-dust-514

What they say is that the graphic is very bad, and the enviroment looks very cold and steril. and that the game remind them of 2 other games " Battlefield 2142 og MAG"

I also asked about the graphic on the round table and was told that it would become much better, but one of the Devs said " it will have good graphic , but dont forget its a Free To Play game" oops that is a very bad thing to say, it can be as free to play as it will, if you release a game in 2012-13 without good - great graphic you will not get anyone to play it

It can be as good gameplay as any game, bombbardments , ships , cars, tanks, outfits, remember we do all have HD on every screen , we are used to have good picture and graphic. There is no way in the world around it

But I am really looking forward to play it and all my friends , but I have already told them that the good graphic will be released when it goes public and the beta is for adjusting gameplay. But we will not have the roumors that its a good game good gameplay but the graphic is bad, many will not bother to download it

I would rather pay for it and get good graphic. :) :)

Last quote from the rewiev in gamer.no : " I am not looking forward to this game " I became sad when I read it and hope we dont get many reviews like that

I'd care if it wasn't PS3 exclusive.
My 2 cents.

You should keep in the mind that the PS3 can only render so much on screen. Limitations of the platform are something that the developers have mentioned quite a bit. An eventual PC version will allow developers to realize their vision much further. I'm not arguing the possibility of a PC version -- it's inevitable.

"enviroment looks very cold and steril"
Yet it changes depending on where it is on a planet... Bleak brown deserts, Green hills, snowy passes.
Then next year lava planets or plasma planets and its constantly going to be refined patch after patch after patch after patch after patch after patch. Like EVE has done. Its not some one trick pony that gets some map packs after a year and then dies tell the sequel. I think as long as they get the core game down as fun. it wont matter if the bullet casings are HD or not.

At the end of the day, if it isn't a quality experience then it'll fail. Obviously I hope it's a quality experience What?

Quite. While I love watching worlds burn, I generally would rather it be one I'm not part of.

Not that I have anything against it, but if it doesn't look like Quake, it's fine. Also, graphics aren't everything. Anyone who bases an opinion almost entirely on graphic quality, in my own opinion, loses all validity.

I was pretty miffed when I heard DUST 514 would be running on Unreal Engine 3. It can only ever seem to render 3 shades of brown and grey.

Let's hope that CCP inject some colour, then add a few fairly cheap graphical effects. Lens flares, vibrant colours, trees, a high-res skybox, and depth of field can go a long way.

There are plenty of great looking Unreal Engine 3 games. Mirror's Edge, for example. I agree with your bolded statement, however.

Big smileBig smile I have played many games with poor-ok quality, and I will play dust 514 no matter what. But what ever we mean, its a fact that graphic and enviroment has become important in any review. What I am saying is that graphic is also important in the gameexperience. If it looks like Quake its not fine at all, thats my opinion. CoolCool

It lost me as there is no destructible environment. It just doesn't look to be in the same league as BF3.

I was pretty reassured from what I saw coming from fanfest. I hope they'll add more stuff graphics wise but atm I am pretty happy with the look.

I so would like to see destructible environments though.

Which is only half true because only certain structures can be destroyed and because you can only bring down specific structures in the BF universe, I find your argument flawed.

I really hope that DUST will have, at least, better textures, because what I've seen here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt0_dWSyVKI , it makes me sad. I'm still looking forward to play this game because of its unique gameplay, already bought PS3 for that, but graphics on fanfest videos is definitely outdated

Not everything, but depends on game type. For massive FPS game - graphics means a lot.

Blood and gore (and slavery) is more important than most modern graphics.Blink
