Larger stations - and closer to the planets.

Personally, I'd like to see actual orbits (like stations passing into/out of the dark side of a planet as it rotates), as well as a few systems with binary stars.

This supposedly happened in the original version of Eve (before my time, I can't confirm), but it was far too processing intensive to simulate the movement of all the planetary bodies in Eve at 6 Hz, so it was sadly simplified to the way it is static today.

I rather have bigger planets.

The Eve planets are already realistically sized. The space shuttle travels at 7700 m/s, and circles the Earth in about 1.5 hours. Fit up a Dramiel for the same speed and try to orbit Amarr Prime.

Ed: I should be clearer. It's not that objects in Eve are too small, it's that the speeds at which everything travels are way too enormous to give a satisfying sense of scale. This is why combat mostly involves shooting little specks, as well. Unless CCP dumps realism by the wayside, it's not going to change.

If this is the case then it should be a simple task to move the stations closer to the planets and increase the resolution on the planets to make them a higher definition. Increasing station size after that should be easy.

Bounties for all! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2279821#post2279821

They already moved the gates around a bunch as part of the planet graphics update. That upset a million people because their gate tacticals and other bookmarks broke. A significant larger number of people would be upset if stations got moved.

That leaves moving planets as the only real solution.

... Come to think of it, that is hilarious. Supported.

Because it would look awesome. Video games don't need to make sense.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

Do you know how they move things in space now?
They move sphere of space around the thing they are moving with the thing they are moving.
And if in that sphere were bookmarks they are moved too.

You remember few months ago when they rotate gates, have anybody complain???

Given that rotating something around its center point doesn't change its position...

You mean back to an universe where a group of a few hundred thousand people have killed (tens of? hundreds of?) trillions of people over the course of less than ten years?

Nope, because rotation doesn't change the absolute x,y,z position of anything.

The last gate move was with Dominion, when the new planet graphics were introduced, in order to showcase how pretty they are.

Ok, you have a point.
But somewhere DEVs said that they move things around the way i wrote here...

If we're doing larger stations can we look at POS ship maintenance arrays? I still get confused how an Orca (among all the other ships!) are supposed to fit in there. I'd be happy to accept the tardis theory, only the Orca wouldn't even get in there in the first place. And how can I even get a Raven to fit in my Chimera!? Why does nothing make sense in this make believe sci-fi computer game!!!???

Stay calm! Everything will be okay, we'll just jump through this stargate here and travel several thousand times the speed of light.

I have a theory. If this earth and the universe it's in is real then we're currently living in space where the laws of physics and reality are twisted like it is even more so in wormhole space. Then again,it's just a theory. *looks out a view port in search for a black CONCORD ship*

Makes perfect sense. Is easier to stack stuff in a box than it is just sitting on the ground.

I'd just like to point out that volume is not dependant on how easy something can be stacked.
Volume is volume. It's fairly absolute.

OP: with as massive as stations in EVE are, they could not be as close as your pic, without either being pulled in (might have tech to avoid that) or causing planetary issues.

As for size, some are fine. Caldari stations are one of the better ones. Some Amarr stations shouldn't even be able to allow Freighters to leave or enter.

900 m3 of it actually hangs out in space.
