Is there a ship that shield tanks and uses energy based weapons for fighting? I browsed the market for over an hour and could not find one. Anyone know what ship can do this well? (Getting bonuses from the ship class skill for weapons dmg, or fire rate, etc.)

Sansha ships maybe? Is that what you were looking for (laser boats built for shield tanking)?

That would be the province of the Sansha pirate faction, I believe.

Ex: Phantasm

Special Ability: 100% bonus to Medium Energy Turret damage
Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: 7.5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret tracking per level
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret damage per level

Shield base HP: 2400

Mid slots: 6

Weirdly the primary resists are still on the armor, but you can't win 'em all. Still better for shield tank than armor.

You spent over an hour looking at the market and you didn't come across the Sansha ships?

Blimey. I think you might need glasses, or new ones if you already have them.

Sansha ships do: Succubus, Phantasm, Nightmare.

I have also seen an arguably successful Myrmidon setup involving a shield tank and lasers.

Unhardened t1 armor resists are better than t1 shield

I've seen the battleclinic fits for shield modules in the midslots, but usually people either will fit projectiles on them or hybrids.

But as the topic has already answered, sansha ships fly shield tanked and laser-based. The way they can run the capacitor need is because they have their role bonus (like the nightmare's marauder-like bonus).

Supposedly a Harb can be fit for a shield tank.

But really, go with Sansha if you like shields and lasers.

Me personally... I armor tank my Sansha stuff. Still working on one for the Phantasm...

The Apocalypse and Apocalypse Navy Issue can actually make pretty decent shield tanked fits.

Compare these two fits:

CPU makes it difficult to fit Amarr ships for shield (as well as the obvious lack of mid slots) but even without the third large CDFE the shield Apocalypse manages to hit about 94.8k EHP, compared to the armor's 99k. Both do the same amount of damage but the shield Apoc has better damage projection because of the three TEs.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

You "can" shield tank anything but rule of thumb is that ship with more mid slots then low slots and/or more shield HP then armor hp are meant to be shield tanked.
Pirate faction ships that use skill of Amarr and Caldari are what you need like people said before:
Nightmare
Phantasm
Succubus
And only Nightmare can use active shield tank well, other two are better when passive shield tanked.

It's actually not as dumb as it sounds. The Myrm doesn't have any turret bonuses so you can use whatever weapon system you'd like (sans missiles). The only problem you really have that your capacitor power might die before the fight is over.

[Mids]

[Lows]

[Rigs]
Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Core Defense Shield Extender I
Medium Core Defense Shield Extender I

[Drones]
1x Hobgoblin II
2x Valkyrie II
2x Berserker II

Notes:
- VERY tight fit... it needs the skills Advanced Weapon Upgrades and Shield Upgrades to level 5.
- Has around 55k EHP.
- Deals around 500 DPS (~300 of which comes from turrets alone) around 10km.
- Using Scorch ammo you can hit out to 30km.

It actually is as dumb as it sounds, please meet my neuts. If anything, fit autocannons on a Myrm.

I tried flying it myself once, but ran headfirst into a Mach. http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10867925

It's like a nano cane that is a bit slower and a bit tankier, but with a ton more damage. It also lent itself to an awesome screenshot. http://www.rifterlings.com/gallery/var/albums/gallente-victor.jpg

Unfortunately, you still would have been destroyed if that machariel wasn't there.
