In fleet pvp the fleet is only as dumb as the FC. If the FC is unclear in his commands, not firm in his fleet composition, not strict with comms and fleet actions.. the fleet will fail. I have been in many fleets, and 90% of the FC's shout and curse and panic. The other 10% were calm collective and have won against bigger odds because of it.
Sadly I form part of the 90%, but understand this and leave FC'ing to the pro's, so put me in the incompetent category, but depending on the FC, me and my fellow incompetents never lemming, are always fit right and make good fearless bait.

"good fearless bait" meaning you hit "jump" instead of "warp"?

As my sig suggests, you need all types in your corp. As CEO of Sudden Buggery, I expressly employ idiots and incompetent fools to make me look good. Without someone clogging up the killboard with losses and stumbling through wormholes against orders, I would be primaried every single time I came on the field.

By employing deaf-mute multiple amputee autistic basement dwelling nerds, I ensure that only I get the top killer spot on my killboard. Besides, if a CEO only employed elite PVPers, people would swiftly realise I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing and my ability to extort fat billions from their taxes would disappear.

Any future interactions between our corp are sure to be amusing. Big smile

Most of my corp are smart people who just haven't played enough. Others are eager to learn and experiment. We don't generalize. But we are very good at what we specialize in.

Generally I hold the view that the members of a fleet are as dumb as the FC allows them to be. However some time long ago this happened to me:

We lived in a C3 with a static null-sec wormhole. It wasn't a cash cow like some other, but it was really nice for attacking in 0.0 because you could pop up under their radar in the middle of a region.

So the day was early and we had only 4 people on. We were harassing the locals and did it enough for them to form up and eventually find our wormhole. So when I see ten people warping in I order the retreat.

That's a nice thing to do: pinch, pinch, blueball.
So, everyone is off the field in their pos, except for one bomberpilot who is at the other side keeping eyes.
So I ask, everyone safe?
Nice.
Well not so nice, because when I order the retreat, the bomberpilot saw 1 lone vagabond and thought he could probably take it: so I hear, no sorry no eyes anymore, I tried to tackle a vaga.
When I hear that, I curse and swear a bit at the pilot and in the middle of that I hear a "help". So I'm like: what's going on? "I'm tackled" and I'm like: "I saw you warp off in your domi, why aren't you in the pos", and get the reply: "but I forgot my drones, I needed to pick them up". And I'm like: "with 10 hostiles vs 1 domi?" I get so mad that I had to log off coms and close eve.

Yes there are really dumb pilots and it's not always the FC's fault.

What's really amusing is when pilots hit "jump" instead of "bridge".

Enjoying the rain today? ;)
