BC/Destroyer racial skill changes

Hi!

I have a hypothetical question about the racial BC/Destroyer skill changes coming up.

If I currently have BC lvl4, and say, Amarr cruiser lvl3, does this mean I'll have Amarr BC lvl4 when the changes are made?

Thanks in advance,

Z

Totally on topic here : will there be any amount of unalocated SP's for those with all races frig trained to V, dessy V, BC V and cruiser 3?

As far as I know, they still haven't posted the specifics of how the skill changes will go down, but from what they HAVE said, I believe the OP is correct. Basically, if you can fly it before the patch, you should be able to fly it after.

If you're at all serious about subcap PVP, or most PVE, training BC 5 now would be a solid choice, since you'd basically be training 4 skills at once.

As for unallocated SP, I doubt they would because unless they just GAVE everyone that much SP, you'd have to pick one race to get to 5 and not train the others, or get all to 3-4.

They won't give any unallocated sp, for the case you've given above you will get all 4 destroyer and battlecruisers skills to V.

They haven't specified yet, they did say unallocated sp is an 'option'

Every time I read these kind of posts I get the feeling I'm gonna' be pissed off. Not everyone trains for cruisers.

You know what I think? Why don't they just give you the racial for what you've trained. If you are Caldari with destroyer V and BC 3 then that's what you get. Tag existing ships in hanger and move on. This is a long term game and if a change comes for the better that sets you back 7 - 30 days then fine.

Thanks for all y'all replies.

It also looks like Cruiser IV is going to be required for a BC rather than Cruiser III, so that means anybody with Cruiser III for whatever race and BC I or above pre-inferno will also be given Cruiser IV for that race?

Not a big deal obv but worth noting :)

From what I understand, no. It looks like they'll just give you the BC skills based on the old requirements for the ships, not give you extra SP for what you will need going forward.

That is the plan for the lowest-SP-addition change that they are considering. They've also been considering simply giving everyone all racial BC skills at the level of their current BC skill, so you could end up with Min BC IV and also Amarr BC IV, Cal BC IV, and Gal BC IV.

It's not set in stone and they've not expanded on their possible plans since the dev notes you could have easily found using the search function. Those notes would also tell you that they haven't mentioned giving out free cruisers IV.

Agreed, these notes do not specifically mention giving out free cruiser IV. However, the dev notes I did find stated that Cruiser IV would be required to fly a t1 BC following the patch (only Cruiser III is required now), and, that if you can fly it now, you can fly it post-patch. Pretty sure that in order for both of these to be true, they would have to give you Cruiser IV if you only have cruiser III and BC I or above pre-patch, no?

I got BC V but only Gallente Cruiser V and Minmatar cruiser III.

Just in case, I'm training all racial frigates and cruisers to IV, and Destroyers to V ASAP.

It won't hurt, eventually I'll be wanting toys of all races, and the perspective of free SP in any shape and form is quite appealing.

I hope I don't end up regretting it.

I was wondering if anybody knows when this change is going to be implemented? Is it scheduled for the April Escalation Patch or the May Expansion? Or has this not yet been announced? Thanks to anyone who knows.

Edit: Did a bit of forum reading, looks like it won't be this April. Source (for anyone else wanting to confirm and read this) from CCP Ytterbium: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1001495#post1001495

Not necessarily, they could make the requirement to fly ships different than the requirement to train skills. For example, a Hurricane could require Minmitar Battlecruiser IV, but not have any Minmatar Cruiser Prerequisite. Then the skill Minmitar Battlecruiser IV could require Minmitar Cruiser IV. Since the Hurricane only checks for the Battlecruiser skill, you could still fly it without them having to give you extra SP if you only had the cruiser skill trained to 3.

So a new player would still have to train both skills to 4, but you would be grandfathered in.

I lost some SP on a long-dead character, and faced just this situation. I could fly an interceptor but I only had Evasive Maneuvering IV.

Essentially, it is in your interest now to train

-Battlecruisers V
-Destroyers V (not quite as awesome, but still awesome)
-Racial Cruiser IV
-Racial Battleship I (they are considering making battleships take longer to get into).

First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire.

So if I get the blog and all the scatterd dev replys right, everyone who currently isn't remapped to Per/Wil will miss out on lots of free skillpoints. Evil

Not if you trained BC V first, like any sane person.

Won't help though if you don't have all the racial frigs at IV and cruisers at III. My point still stands, ppl without per/will remap are screwed. More more precisely, they won't be able to get as many free SP as the rest especially if you add Destroyers V and racial Battleships I.
