Chat Request Spam

I have a petition under this toon( DEVs please check it out.) in regards to this situation. It's been a huge discussion between the GM's and I about this.

Currently with the UI when you receive a chat request it will relocate your cursor or stop what ever you are currently doing. For example if you undock and want to redock in a hurry and you are spamming the dock request by right clicking or activating hardners, you can get spammed by requests that relocate your mouse cursor or actually close the right click menu.

If you receive a chat request from somebody while typing in corp chat and the request is from somebody already in your contact list then you will immediately be typing in the new window that just popped up.

One, there is no way for the GM's to verify for reimbursement nor away for them to deal with the offenders exploiting this feature.

Two, there has to be a better way for you to accept or deny apps at a later time, especially if you are engaged in a fight. It should be less intrusive.

I would really appreciate the DEVs reviewing my petition cause I am getting really tired of typing this over and over and over again. It also seems that not all the GMs can agree that it is or isn't an exploit. If this isn't an exploit of the UI to gain unfair advantage I would like to know. I do a weekly podcast and this has been a huge topic on our show for the past couple of weeks.

I would like to clarify this to our listeners.

AS I explained in my petition, it is an easy thing to recreate. Just take 20+ people that are or are not on your contact list and have them chat request spam you at the same time. You will see weird things happen especially if you are typing in one window it will bounch to one of the new windows if you have them in your contacts. If not, it can close your right click options. It's also a huge window that pops up in the middle of the screen and you have to close several windows or move them depending on your AI layout on your screen just continue what you were doing. Small to Large gangs will use this as a tactic on undocks to keep a person from activating modules or prevent them from being able to open a right click menu to redock.

BTW, the customer service sucks at CCP but that is another topic for another thread.

Just like my petition, I basically got ignored. I thought I would at least get some reaction from a DEV or another GM. Anything?? or.. should I just roundfile.99 this topic??

It's a legit feature request.

I'd personally like if a small blinking circle would appear over your character's face when receiving a private convo request, color coded to match standings.

I can understand your frustration, but chat spam has been going on for years. There is an easy way to stop this, you can automatically refuse all requests in the esc menu. This is the old and trusted method many of us have used against this tactic.

But even though you have a valid point, don't expect anything any time soon in that regard. Sad

Fix: Don't auto-focus on the request.
