The Functional Use, Performance and Profitability in Applying Ancient Components in Present-Day Mining Equipment

Background: Being the primary source of construction materials, ways of improving mining capabilities is of great interest to industrialists everywhere. A large crate of archaeological artifacts, predating the Gallente Federation, containing mining equipment from that period had been obtained through legal means. Great improvements have been had with incorporating ancient technologies into the design of spaceship modules. The aim of this study was to determine the possible utilization of the ancient mining equipment in improving current designs. The expected profitability for such improvements was in the magnitude of many billion ISK.

Methodology: The mining equipment was carefully disassembled and the usability of each component was studied. In cases where it what possible to determine a functional use the components were tried in their effectiveness with similar top of the line components.

Results: Determining the functional use of the components proved harder than expected and succeeded in only 12% of cases. The initial tests showed promise in the ancient components as they performed at least if not better that their matching present-day component (0-5% increased effectiveness in 89% of the components that had their functional use determined). Sadly, later tests apparently pressed the output of the ancient components beyond their capabilities causing them to irreversibly break down and cease to function.

Conclusions: The practical use of the ancient technology was greatly reduced to our limited understanding on how it operates. While the initial tests showed a slight potential in increased performance using the ancient components, the estimated profitability lies far below the expenses it will take to adapt the components and make them safe to use in commercialized mining equipment.

It turned out buying those pieces of old Gallentean mining tools was a waste of investment. These tools are so horrible difficult to use that I suspect that whoever invented them killed themselves off by using them. Sheesh.

Dr. Souchek Lehman

Good day Capsuleer Datloran. You and I have not met, however after reading your abstract I find myself compelled to write you. By what little information is revealed it seems you have reached an impasse in your research. Knowing full well the constraints of running an active R&D enterprise I imagine you have shelved further work on this find. Perhaps I may be of assistance.

10k, my firm, has recently begun to establish itself in the Khanid Kingdom. Due to unforseen complications, I find quite a few of my researchers have little to do. While I am sure the original items must remain with you, can not some measure of the data from your experiments be shared for peer review?

Again, I understand all to well the constraints of investor interest. I would of course be offering any information gleaned from the data. Should this idea seem partial to you or not, please feel free to com me or if you find yourself in the Kingdom stop by our main offices in Khitaled.

Many thanks

An interesting analysis.

Dr. Lehman, it would be against my practice to hand over material and documentation that presents a monetary investment for me for no good reason. Though, the analysis did not provide the outcome I had hoped there are still some interesting bits that could be of value later on.

I must therefor refuse to pass the data on.

Regards
