I just want to see what people like out there.

For myself, I would say this would be a fleet I would love to fly with, haven't had the numbers to do it effectively yet.

Let's assume 20 man fleet (seems like a round enough number).

I am talking only about T1 ships here, with the idea that you keep your costs low and they are easily and quickly replaceable.

3 Rifters (interceptor roles) - standard fit, 150's, scrambler, mwd, MSE, DCU, Nanofiber.
12 Thrashers (DPS role) - standard fit, 150'2/200's, mwd, MSE, DCU, Gyro.
5 Blackbirds (Ewar support role) - standard fit, 4 Multi spectral ECMs, etc.

Fit would be tech 1 or meta 2-3 maximum to limit the expenses.

I love the simple thought of that type of fleet. Comments ?

Get caught in a bubble with a few (3-5) T3 snipers sitting 100km off, half gang would be dead by the time u got out of it.

Although, barring that situation, that is a mobile, cost effective fleet. I'd run through provi and curse with that fleet!

Hmm

I say this would be Fun for a roam.

1 Rifter for scouting ahead
2 Arty Thrashers for heavy tackle
2 AC Thrashers for heavy tackle
5 Black birds
5 Arty Stabbers or Rail Moa's
5 AC Ruptures or Blaster Thorax's

That was a fun theory craft :)

Please theorycraft an 18 man fleet that (a) one can reasonably expct to find in 0.0 now and then and (b) will lose to the fleet you posted.

There is reason why actual fleets aren a bit more standardized... sad as it is.

I think said fleet would DIAF against an 18 man fleet from 0.0 but could stand a good chance against 10 or less opponents if they have a good FC

2x - T1 Frig with Scram & MWD for Scout (it doesn't really matter which one...but lets say MSE Rifter to keep people happy.)
  • 1 Frig 1-2 jumps ahead of the fleet & 1 frig just on the other side of the gate from the fleet

  • 2x- Sensor Boosted Thrashers for Fleet tackle, their only job is to catch everything on gate...and if you remote SeBo each other all the better...a properly fit fleet tackle thrasher will catch almost everything...though it is paper thin.

4x- Blackbirds (Each one fitting only 1 type of racial jammer, i.e. 1 Caldari BB, 1 Minnie BB, etc.)<- that way you avoid coordianting "cross jams", the Blue BB jams Blues and the Red BB jams Reds...etc.

2x Tanked all to hell Thorax...their job is to get primaried and eat DPS...fit a silly TANK, guns are secondary, a full flight of hammerheads are still handy while you soak up DPS...let the enemy shoot these for 1-2 min while your other ships do their thing :)

10x 1600mm Plate Ruptures for deeps and drones and small neuts for fun :)

    2+2+4+2+10 = 20...DONE!

An experienced FC can do a lot with this fleet, even kill a fleet of 20BCs...depending on the mix of BCs and your BB pilots...never underestimate how much damage those BBs can do...assuming low level skills each one can jam 2-3 ships...which means that 20 man BC gang is now a 8-12 man BC gang...still a match for your fleet if you are all new pilots with low skills...but much more manageable...

Now take this same fleet and more SP...each BB can potentially jam 4-5 ships...and since you're all in cruisers and such that 20 man BC gang will probably jump into you...so your BBs can be set up off gate...and you can probably get rid of the thrashers and have another 2 Ruppies...and then win?

Keep your BBs alive, trade 2 Thoraxs for 3 Canes...and watch the fun pile up :)

You will have losses, but you should hold the field...some people seem to define win on this scale as "We took no losses and the other guy lost all his ships" You are in cheap T1 cruisers. If you lose 75% of the fleet but kill 50% of their fleet and hold the field to loot, you win. Never underestimate panic, overheat early and hard, the more of their guys screaming on coms that they are going down like b!tches the more likely they are to break and run. I have seen more than one good fight go the other way because one side was wiling to commit balls tot he wall style and the other ran the seconds they perceived a disadvantage.

Whatever combination gives me tackle, speed and deeps (w/ overheating) - for as cheap as possible.

The best I'd ever run with was 4 frigs (2 rifters, 1 Merlin, EWAR Griffin), 2 destro's (1 arty Thrasher, 1 rail Cormorant), 2 cruisers (1 logi Osprey, 1 blaster Moa).

T1 from head to toe. Super cheap. It wouldn't even hurt to have to replace the cruisers.

In my opinion, these kinds of gangs can and SHOULD be throw-away ships.
