Fitting T2 rigs to ships

Basically,

I'm flying a Helios for exploration.

I need to fit a T2 rig to the ship, except I can't fit it because I don't have the skills.

However, my mate can fit the rigs but can't fly the ship.

So can I get my mate to fit the rig, then pass it to me so I can fly the ship with the rigs fitted?

If he can't fly the ship he will not be able to activate it to add the rig

Unfortunately, no.

As the ship has to be active to have rigs applied to it.

Also bear in mind that you can't fit 2x T2 probing rigs to a CovOps (due to calibration), it's better to use 2x T1 rigs rather than the 1x T2 that you can wedge on there.

But as other people have said, if he could sit in the ship, he could rig it and then give it back and the rigs will work for you; but since he can't sit in the ship, he can't rig it.
