Hello,

Recently my install has been showing a string of strange properties, making the game difficult to play. For starters, my login screen shows major graphical issues:
Login Screen

Second, the map will not display any star information, making planning and routing nearly impossible:
Map w/out stars

Finally, the screen has been showing strange light effects, as can also be seen in the map pic
sparkling pod

I have already tried resetting settings and cache, at GM suggestion, but with no result.
I have tried updating my graphics card drivers, to no avail.

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated.

Have you tried running the repair tool? It might be a long shot but you (atleast I) never know how corrupt files may affect the rendering.

Secondly have you experienced any problems in any other games that require alot of juice out of your graphics card?

If nothing else try installing a program that lets you monitore the temperature of your computer components to see if it might be heat related.

I'm far from an expert but I would start with these steps to try and pin point the error.

The repair tool sadly did nothing to help

The heat issue is not a factor, as I just had the fan replaced, and will have the error even if I boot EVE immediately after loading windows

No other games have given me trouble.

Thanks for the suggestions, but no luck.

Anyone else have any ideas, short of re-installing the whole game?

More often than not this is a driver settings problem and appears to be most prominent with ATI/AMD cards. The most cases I have seen could be solved with a clean driver installation, meaning that you remove the currently driver completely (including it's settings and potential left over files that are at times left behind by the default deinstallation routine) with the help of a driver cleaner tool of your choice before reinstalling the latest driver.

found a program called drive sweeper online, and tried out Mr. Karidor's suggestion. It fixed the problem easily enough.

Thanks!
