Out of interest, what could i expect to get for a trading character with standings?

You've already had all the help I'm prepared to give on this subject, sorry.

Hey now . . . lets get this conversation back on topic . . . no need to give away all the pro-tips

Scanning Alt - Training Time - 51 days -
Your Investment - Maybe 60 million for skill books, +3 Implants, 2 Plex to Trade so approx 1 billion
With 51 days you can get Astro 5, the rest 4 and covert ops 4, Frigate 5, Cloak 4.
This will sell for about 1.5 -> 2 billion.
So a profit of .5->1 billion.

Tengu Alt - Training Time - Approx 3-4 month depending on how "starter" it is.
At a minimum you need cruiser 5, subsystems 4, and T2 heavy missiles and T2 shield

Here you are looking at a profit of 1-3 billion

Carrier Alt - Training Time - Approx 6 months will give you a max DPS carrier with logistics/shield/armor skills
This will produce a profit of about 4-6 billion at today's prices but who knows where carriers will be at 6 month from now.

Any other "specialized" character can give good returns. Cyno Alt, Logistics, Recon pilot

oh yea . . . the first thing to do.

1) Look at the character bazar.
2) See what is regularly sold.
3) See how much it sold figure.
4) Figure out how long it would take to train those skills.
5) Calculate your profit

Is it the seller or the buyer who typically pays the transfer fee?

If you want to make the most isk possible in the character bazaar then selling the same stuff as everyone else isn't the smartest way to do it.

The seller ALWAYS pays the transfer fee, but that should be factored into the price so that ultimately the buyer pays it.

You'd be looking at right around 100d for a supercarrier holding alt, using your remaps correctly. Around a 3.5-3.6b investment including skills, implants, and transfer fee. You can unload a Nyx holder for around 4-5b at the moment, so a potential for up to 1.5b profit in just over 3 months.

There are some pretty bad suggestions in this thread, but I think this one just might be the worst.
