Sentry Dominix

Hey I'm trying to find a cheap sentry dominix for lvl4s. It also should do a lot of damage.

So far I got:

DPS : 1009 (471 turrets + 538 drones)
Tank: 407 against gurista
Cap: 2m 44s

6x 350mm Railgun II (Antimatter Charge L)

Large Shield Booster II
2x Kinetic Deflection Field II
Thermic Dissipation Field II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II

3x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Co-Processor II
2x Power Diagnostic System II
Tracking Enhancer II

2x Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I

5x Garde II

Now tank is kinda low, however with this dps I hope that npcs will be dieing very fast.
I'm unsure about low slots, especially Power Diagnostic Systems look kinda lame and perhaps there are other things that would be better.
Will it fly? Will it do missions fine? Any suggestions on what should be changed and stuff?

It would work, but you are seriously range capped without a DLA. I'd think of something like this:

[Dominix, cheap shield sentry]
Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Power Diagnostic System II
Power Diagnostic System II
Co-Processor II

Large Shield Booster II
Ballistic Deflection Field II
Ballistic Deflection Field II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I

425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
425mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L
Drone Link Augmentor I

Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I
[empty rig slot]

Garde II x5

It's slightly lower damage and the single faction mod raises cost, but the two omnis plus DLA will mean your sentries apply way more of their damage at a wider variety of ranges. If you want to keep it cheap, you can swap a hardener for faction or downgrade to a C5-L booster instead.

It seems like even with 2 omidirectional tracking links gardes will have 41km optimal and 12km fallof. How will DLA help?

Not sure you'd have the tank for many of the lvl 4 missions with just a large booster. You do alot of DPS but I'm not sure how well you'll actually be able to apply it before you have to bail.

I've tried a bunch of domi variations and end up going with the vanilla dual large armor rep one. I also second the motion that you'll want a DLA and at least two omnitrackers, they make a big difference. A step up, though it's not cheap, is to go with a navy domi which has the grid and slots to fit guns, omni trackers, and a tank.

Yeah I have been having the same thoughts about it. If npcs will start shooting from 60km+ then I'm pretty much screwed.
I'll have to reconsider the whole thing Roll

One relatively cheap way to pimp the armor tank setup is to use a single imperial navy large armor rep.

You never carry just a single set of sentries, and if you're up against Guristas your second set should be Wardens, which will give you 404 DPS at 106+30. With the DLA you're still limited to 80km, but at least it isn't 60km.

IIRC, sentries shoot as far as you can target. Drone control range only applies to how far away you can send them or communicate with them.

If you are over 45 km from your sentries, you're doing it wrong.

Is this sig EVE related?

Not quite. Drone control range is the range from your ship to the object you want your drones to interact with. So you cannot tell sentries to shoot something outside of your drone control range (though if they are set to aggressive, they will sometimes shoot targets beyond that range).

With Electronic Warfare Drone Interfacing at 5 the drone control range is actually 60 km.

But yeah, as Zhilia said, can't tell drones to shoot/repair/mine something further away than your control range.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Large Sentry Damage Augmentor I

Garde II x5

967 EFT DPS, quite a bit less when you factor in having to use low-damage ammo at long ranges, and this thing's abysmal gun tracking. But melt approaching rats it does

With a 3% PG implant and some factioning (a Navy LAR and a faction hardener or two, the latter aren't expensive at all), you can drop the ACR for a Drone Control Range Augmentor, which really does wonders for the engagement range. Would be my first recommended upgrade, if you want to stay on the vanilla Dominix
Dropping a magstab for a tracking enhancer helps a lot with the CPU too. Less EFT DPS, but probably comes to about the same (or maybe more?) when you factor in tracking and the increased range at which you can use antimatter

I have yet to find a shield setup I really like for the vanilla Dominix. Works much better on the navy one IMO, where you both have an extra midslot to play with and increased buffer. The setup in the OP has only one Omni, which I find kind of sad on a Sentry Dominix (and its tank is weak). The setup in the second post has less tank than I'd dare fly with in anything but the least demanding L4s.
