or so the ppl on the forums cant rebuke the argument and take in into game, punishing the character/corp/alliance for what he said out of game

(kinda sounds familiar really)

In other words a player can shoot their mouth off and not have to face the consequences of their actions. Case in point: The quote in the OP was directed at an alt who is calling out pvp'rs and calling them losers, and yet he hides behind anonymity while doing so. Do you see the irony in such an action?

Ridicule and punishment?

Cyber-bullying??

Essentially, someone who says: Rawr poast with yer main! Is saying- I disagree/ don't like your viewpoint, I wish I knew who you were so I can ridicule or punish you for your viewpoint, I also wish I knew what corp or alliance you are affiliated with so I can attribute your comment/ viewpoint to that entire body and ridicule/ punish them as well if I am able. Or if possible, troll them hard enough to expell you from their space guild so your ridicule and punishment will be complete.

Because I disagree with/ don't like your viewpoint.

Most alliances have some standards. In order to uphold them, most discourage their members posting in this cesspit on their mains. It's kind of like local smack.

I've seen plenty of people getting kicked and kicked some myself for shitposting on their mains because it reflects badly on the entire alliance.

This I can agree with. In fact IEEE has one standing order, "If you do or say something, be prepared to back it up". We at the IEEE also try to uphold this basic rule in life with other corps which has led to some interesting blogs such as the Joe Pheonix saga. As it turns out the poor man just didn't know when to stop.

But yes, a good alliance should watch what their members are saying on the forums. And believe it or not, but good comments on occasion can be rewarding.

This is my main and I will post willy nilly with him. He is my internet spaceship persona except for my corpies that know me in RL.

Despite my posting prowess I really am terrible at this game

EVE is a sandbox, what you do has repercussions, you can't hide with name changes like in other MMOs. So, if you post on an anonymous alt, you're considered a coward.

Right cause they cant go after you, or your corp or alliance and kill you for saying out of game things.
So you are a coward

Goons; infiltration at its best - first bob... now ccp itself. They dont realize you guys dot take this as "just a game". Bring it down guys, we're rooting for you.

I remain neutral to the Mittani case, leaning heavily towards the do not care side of the scale.

*forum alt reporting in*

I used to not hide behind a forum alt, but then I watched a friend get burned by his alliance because they didn't like what he said on the forums. (It was an honest opinion, in my honest opinion.)

I also don't like to draw anymore attention to my main than I have to.

People seem to be missing the primary purpose of NPC alts, it allows people to make an argument from authority despite not being an authority on any subject.

Example: NPC corp alt #20025 is arguing over null sec mechanics changes, he will inevitably claim to have been playing since 1984 and have over 9000 confirmed kills. Two sentences later he will demonstrate that he does not understand how bubbles work.

This is, sadly, not a rare occurrence. Calling for NPC corp alts to reveal their main in cases like these is not done to allow us the opportunity for in game reprisals, which quite simply are too much effort, it is done to get the idiots to shut the hell up and stop bad poasting.

Granted that may happen once in a while but usually the sole purpose of wanting to know the main character is so they can exact some type of revenge, thus thinking they have won some great battle. After their revenge is completed, they'll usually post the killmail here in the forums in a vain attempt to cause humiliation. Those actions are intended to berate, demean and ultimately silence that player.
