Cloaking device visual effect

I've been meaning to make this post for ages now but for some reason never got round to it. I personally have always wondered why they changed the cloaking effect from the Trinity expansion (example), I found it more visually pleasing (though I did feel that the direction of the decloak should start from the front) then the current effect. I can only assume they made the change to be a more "realistic" representation?

Anyway, on that note I saw a video on youtube a while back (here) showing what is basically the Trinity cloak effect in real life. So that being said, it cant be a "realistic" issue anymore.

Anyone else feel that that effect is more awesome then the current full ship fade we have right now? Surely the change wouldn't be to hard to implement, it would just be a matter of changing a shader. Unless maybe the engine does something particularly interesting to initiate the effect? I don't know how exactly they do it obviously but id love to see it come back.

I personally don't care what the animation is, but the cloak could stand to be a little more visible imo, for the benefit of the person flying cloaked of course. Under certain circumstances it's almost impossible to see your ship when it's cloaked, which can sometimes make things difficult.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I, too, liked the old scrolling effect. Something cooler looking than the current effect would rule.
