Hi fellow traders.

What is EVE-Profit?
It is a webpage showing your loss/profit on all your market orders (not station trades nor contracts). It does take broker fee and tax into consideration and it gives some statistics so you can follow your progress month by month or see your most profitable items. You can merge your characters which give you the possibility to have for example a buy-character in Jita and a sell-character in another region and see those two characters as one virtual character - calculating the profit for the virtual character.
The webpage is very simple and clean and you can always delete all your information (no history kept).

The last few changelogs (newest first):

2012-March-31
* Fixed that not all transactions were shown due to not updating the conquerable stations
* Imported Crucible 1.6 database dump

2012-February-7
* Imported Crucible 1.1 database dump

2012-February-3
* Merged characters can now also be shown in the statistics (experimental - could be removed again)
* Fixed a minor error displaying line breaks under Feedback

Webpage: https://eve-profit.com/ (just accept the private SSL certificate)

A little history on myself and my EVE-Profit page (short version).
I have been playing EVE on-and-off since 2008 but for the last year and a half or so I have been more or less inactive due to lack of interest of EVE... or perhaps I should say I have got other interests instead (build a new house and got a baby - this takes time I tell you!!!). For all the time I have been playing I have been a dedicated trader and I have had a closed personal version of my EVE-Profit page for myself. I decided to open it for the public as I thought others also could benefit from it as I had, so I opened up the page in April 2010. I don't have any big user base but the page is used by others and I am happy to see that (it is a big motivation for me to keep developing it).

EVE-Profit .:: it is all abount profit

Hi all.

The last few months I have received some feature requests for better support of manufactures, station traders and people getting stuff from contracts - so they don't get a negative profit once selling their stuff (no buy order found).

I do see this as an issue but I have always been concentration solely on market orders only as this is easy readable from API and you can rely on the data given. But if I wanted to support manufactures etc. then I would need to somehow be able to put in fictive buy/sell orders or alike. This I am having some doubts about.

1) When being able to put in fictive buy/sell orders you can manipulate your profit. I know of people using the public statistics/ranking page to attract investors but how can investors or anyone else trust the numbers with this new method?

2) As I don't have any javascript skills whatsoever, I will not be able to do a nice fluently integration into the current maket list or alike so this would have to be the good old method of putting in a date/time and then insert/delete an item - this is slow for everyone to use. But maybe this is better than nothing?

3) When inserting or deleting rows the profit will need to be reclaculated. On small quantities or new orders this is no problem but as this is done on-the-fly I am afraid that the page will be way too slow when updating several thousands of records.

So I am still considering how I in the best possible way can support manufactures getting their profits right. As I do want people to be able to trust the statistics/rankings it is especially important for me to figure out the trust-issue before I do anything about it.

Anyone having any good suggestions to any of these?

Thanks,

First of all, thanks for your time dedicated to improve EVE-Profit, it's a must site for me.

Related to the question, I don't see how you can solve the trust-issue, the only way would be showing both numbers, profits with and without fictive orders, and possible investors can examine both number and form a judgment.

I personally don't care too much about all that negative-counted profit and I'm too lazy to fill a fictive order for every contract made so I just pray for a fully featured contract API.

First thing first, great job.

Now a small problem. When I change the period -1day, 1 week- it always switch to the Detailed Trades Page, can't it stay at the page I am watching?

Now a suggestion. I do all my trade through the corporation wallet, could we have a Corporation Wallet Journal? This also means I can't see my orders or how many I have free.

Thx

The short answer is currently "No" - to both ;-) The jQuery supports it (cookies to remember your selection), but this I didn't choose, as it was too troublesome at the moment (first experience with jQuery).

And I don't have any plans to support corporations - this is way too troublesome as I don't use that feature myself and sadly the site is very much what I were doing once being a trader.

If I were to add features to the site it would be to support contracts - but again... a whole new thing so ...
