Do you have any preference? Please explain.
It bears mentioning that a pre-requisite is racial Industrial Ship V, so who has the best transport ships bears questioning as well.

I like the Ark, because:
- Its prettier than the rest.
- The Prorator is prettier than the rest.
- The Prorator can get 10k m^3
- The Prowler can't get 10k m^3

^ Pretty much nailed it. Ark/Amarr Transports all the way.

If I were training from scratch, I would go for the Ark. As it is, several years ago I trained for and purchased a Gallente jump freighter, so I'm sticking with that one.

The Prowler does have the ability to fit a probe launcher in the extra high slot, which is handy in certain situations.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Amarr easily have the best transport ships (most space). Minmatar have the best slot layout with the Prowler (2 high slots). Gallente have the best conventional industrials with the Iteron V. Caldari have the best capital haulers (See below).

Rhea and Charon are the best capital haulers. Reason being is that the Rhea can carry 3 station containers and change ~367k m3 over the others which all have under the 360k m3, this is ofcourse assuming lvl 5 skills.

It all depends what your looking for, cross training might be an option.

If I'm not mistaken I calculated a while back that the Viator is the fastest aligning CovOps transport. (And also the easiest to fit)

Oh, well.. its just about 16 days difference and as it stands my Hauler alt can fly Gallente/Caldari/Minmatar Freighters. No idea why I've not gotten round to also training Amarr though.

But for a JF I think the most obvious choice would simply be the Rhea due to its size.

The others might be preferred for different situations resists/HP/Agility, and something I can imagine makes a lot of sense is buying a "smaller" JF because of the pricetag difference. Everyone seems to want a Rhea.. so its price is a lot higher than the others.

Oh, or apparently it's already changed again and the Ark is the one people want.

Amarr and Gallente are pretty much equivalent in all categories, Amarr have slightly larger sub capital hauler while the Gallente have slightly bigger capital haulers. I chose Gallente though because of the Itty 5 - It's nice to have access to a good T1 industrial type for low value hauls you don't want to go x jumps to grab your T2 hauler for. The Itty 5 can fit a pretty decent shield tank with 5 mids, while still having the largest cargo of any T1 non-capital ship so it fits that role perfectly
Really though, you can't go wrong with either one - just stay away from Minnie and Caldari since their blockade runners are incapable of getting above the 10k mark required to fit a cruiser (unless you T2 rig the Caldari one)

You can pretty much flip a coin to decide between Amarr and Gallente, but if you ever want to increase your cargo capacity beyond what you get with their racial freighter skill at 4, don't train it to 5. Cross training for Caldari freighter 4 take less time then getting Amarr or Gallente freighter to 5, and a Charon/Rhea with freighter 4 carry more then their Amarr and Gallente equivalents do with freighter 5.

Don't forget the upcoming ship skill overhaul. In theory, the T2 Jump Freighters will require Freighter V as a prereq. Also, in theory, since CCP promised that if you can fly it before the change, then you can fly it after the change, your relevant racial freighter skill will get bumped to V (as in free skill points.)

So if you train up for the Rhea, you could possibly get Caldari Freighter V with zero training time after the skill overhaul, thus having access to the biggest cargo carrier in the game, a Charon with Freighter V.
