You're a god damn freetard if you manage to get scammed - and even worse if you get upset about it.

Okay, thank you. So nothing esoteric - a basic, simple scam that should be relatively easy to spot.

NubEdition wrote:
leave now after being cleaned out through stupidity on my part mainly, but more so the pure greed seen in almost every EVE player.

It probably doesn't happen, but it is not related to greed. ISK is mostly meaningless beyond a measure to keep score. It is core EVE to win; no matter what the game. Be it markets, contracts, Incursions, Mining, combat, scamming, piracy or simple Local smack talk - there is an element of player versus player competition in it. Somebody just beat you at one of the games.

I do want to say - congratulations on taking a positive attitude and coming back with all guns blazing. How are you set for ships and funds and things on your combat pilot?

But don't... that's stupid. It's like saying you're gonna drop out of life 'cause people are dishonest and dicks.

do you have 3 bill i could have?

EDIT - My bad on the double post, wasn't thinking.

Actually no...

But I think peeps have lost more than that...
I lost almost that much to a suicide gank once

Took several months to rebuild my market alt nest egg after that 15 second event :)

Hey Nub,
I sort of like your post and I hate almost every post so far since fanfest.
But you epitomize what makes Eve so great and so different, by what you didn't do.
You didn't run like a little kid to the devs trying to make this game into yet another version of farmville. You didn't ask them to start banning PvP in certain systems, banning scams, banning Eve really when you think about it, etc. etc. That is a good thing.
You took it on the chin and you figured the game wasn't for you so you moved on. Which is a shame because of something else you didn't do but you might want to try.
Payback. Either to the entities that wronged you or to the harsh Eve world itself. That's the freedom of the game. That is the game.
It is definitely under assualt by the entitlement kids who've been nursed by Wow et al. And it may go that route with an increaed player base but until then I like your style mate. I hate to lose players but I wish more people would just quit and play another game (at least for a a while) rather than running to the devs and trying to ruin this game like they have so many others.

Whining to the devs honestly never crossed my mind, so I guess that does set me apart in some way (lol). But on to what you said about scams almost being part of EVE really does make sense. They don't have to cheat to get you to willingly give them the assets/isk, they just have to be a snakey ******* that doesn't have issues sleeping at night after doing something completely immoral. Thanks for the wise words, it calms me even more now.

As a general rule, people adopting this stance bring their real life morals into the game and expect everyone else to play by what they perceive the rules of the game to be. They tend work within the rules of the monopoly-sandbox to create and to build. To them, I’m unable to hide behind the name “Liang Nuren” when I suicide gank their hulk in high sec. To them, I become a morally bankrupt terrorist with no purpose in life save to destroy years of someone else’s hard work. To them, I was simply fulfilling my deepest, darkest, most twisted fantasies of achieving power and ultimate control over my fellow human. They fully believe that I would do depraved and unspeakable things in person to real people if given the opportunity and a reasonable guarantee of a lack of personal consequence.

However, I do not believe this to be the case. Its simply that one of the most basic skills of Eve Online is discerning what is real vs what is not real. People who are not capable of this distinction are frequently at extreme odds with the community as a whole and are frequently encouraged to leave the community. They tend not to stay long – both because of self selection and constant encouragement. Really, I think this is for the best all around because I don’t want to be anywhere near someone who isn’t able to personally distinguish between what is real and what isn’t. Just because I blew up your 80 billion ISK / $4,000 USD Titan doesn’t mean that you should make it your real life’s work to destroy mine – by virtue of destroying my professional career or killing me/my family/my dog. Its just that us building things and blowing up each other’s ships is part of the game and not any more interesting to the real life law than me stealing your hotel in our game of monopoly – even if you paid for it with real life dollars (bad you).

make "i'm quitting because you guys played the game and i lost" post

if you have the skills and knowhow making isk isn't so hard that it will take you years to make up for your hulk loss... every subcap ship can be bought in a few months if you just run missions a few times a day... i don't see the big deal.

As a reply to what you said earlier --- I have just over 20 mill and an insured mission ship along with a fitted out salvager. I'll probably keep my hauler around too just for utility work in the Orca. It's a pretty low starting point, but I will have plenty of cash once I sell my carebears.

Now on to what you said just now....There's really no way of telling if the person that just scammed you/ganked you is morally bankrupt though, and that argument doesn't really make sense to me. Yes most stable minded adults can manage to roleplay, but what about those who aren't taking that standpoint? If they can get away with being a thief, liar, etc. on EVE whats to stop them from moving that into their real life (if it isn't there already)? I'm probably going to have more than just a few choice words for the guy that scammed me if i find him trying to break into my house next week. Also what does that say about me after just being scammed and deciding to turn to the bad guy...? The wonderful world of psychology :)

well are they ? That is an question. I would be destroyer of the worlds, if i have that chance, i would kill every life cell in universe if i have that chance. But i will simply never archieve that power so .. Instead i am just an whiner Big smile Weak, pathetic "human" being.

The usual recruitment scheme....put too much faith in the fact that it was TEST, and that's where I was wrong. Bigger isn't always better/safer :P.

Ah I see where you went wrong, YOU TRUSTED SOME BODY. Especially Somebody trying to recruitment you. Recruiters are not to be trusted, certainly not the guys that claim they will help you move your stuff, always ask for collateral or fly with them for a few months before trusting anyone with all your stuff. Or move your stuff yourself.

You also need to do some research, if you had you would have discovered that “Test” is the new “Goon” wannabe’s. Their practically butt brothers.
