Hi Everyone,

I have what I think is a stuip question but going to ask it anyways .. I have been playing this game on and off for over 5 years and I still dont get why people go AFK in stations ..

Now in Jita I can understand because of the market and such .. but I am like 15 jumps away from Jita and there is one guy who is also in the station I run missions at ..

Just dont get it .. I mean if the security guy wanted to free up cpu and stuff and like that .. why not set a limit to how long you can be AFK , like all the other mmo's do ..

They won't change that mechanic. Too many alliances and corps use the afk mechanic as a "denial of isk generation" tactic in low and null sec. There would be no point in parking a seperate account alt in a nemesis, cloaked up at a safe in an enemies system if AFK was removed.

If you are afk and not doing anything you are not actually consuming tangible server cpu and other stuff.

Also, afk cloaking, effectively shutting down entire systems of idiots is completely fun and hilarious.

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

It's a nice screen saver and I like the ambiance.

I can think of a lot of reasons you'd see him apparently AFK in a station. From chatting to friends all day to being fleeted with an active character for standings grind.

In a game where your drake gets hot dropped by 3 supers and a carrier + back up in low sec of all places ?
You think yourself clever because someone doesn't like to risk 1,2billion ship because of an AFK-cloaker ?

So with your faulty logic they are fools because you force them to cover and they are also fools because you just hot dropped them with that cyno alt when they didn't ?

Alternate psychology AFK cloaky argument detected.

But seriously, it's often the case that when I'm home all day, I'm also logged in all day checking on the corp, periodically doing things with people. I just like to be able to sit down and get to it.

I'm paying for it, so, yeah, I want to use it.

Don't ban me, bro!

Just because he doesn't undock, how do you know he's afk?

He could be talking to various people through provate chats\chat channels you don't know about.
He could be managing buy\sell orders
He could be managing contracts (inclouding courier ones to move the stuff he needs moving around)

What a daft post. There are a thousand reasons to go afk in station. And if someone wants to, they should be allowed to.
