Mittani needs someone to be able to point to someone and say "This is all their fault". It has nothing to do with the fact that he tried to push an individual outside of the game to commit suicide. It has nothing to do with his actions being as cookie cutter of a case of cyber bullying as you can get. No no, obviously this is all happening to him because people hate the goons and are butthurt about things going on in this game.

There are threads about him even on other game forums, being discussed by folks who don't give 2 craps about anything that happens in this game, and the response is basically the same. Any normal person who hears that an individual did this would be floored by the news. They don't have to play this video game to think he deserves more than a little slap on the wrist. And yet, that's all he got. And now he is mad that his real life name is tied to the word Cyber Bully? It isn't "The Mittani" who stood up in front of all those people. It was Alexander Gianturco, and that person deserves to be held accountable for their actions.

I'm sorry he hates the idea that there are consequences in this world and that he can't hide behind his screen name forever, but that's life. HTFU, because real life is a hell of a lot harder than this little playground we hang around in and no matter how much of a badass his pixels may be in EVE, it won't prepare him for what reality will do when he performs acts like that.

I saw one of those posts on Rift's off topic forum. Heh. Word is spreading.

Yes, there's a clear attempt by CCP to quiet this situation. In the beginning I agreed with it even to the extent of believing that what Mittens had done wasn't that much of a deal. However, when I started reviewing the alliance panel segment of fanfast, his apology and his post panel communications I concluded that he's a egomaniac that is only sorry that he was too drunk to realize he was leaving indisputable and recorded evidence of his behavior.

So, it's important that everyone who sees this situation for what it is and not what Mitten's, CCP and others would hope we would see it as keep bringing the few threads they've kept to the top of the forum.

and as he said on eve radio, the only reason he even got a ban was cause the massively guy said it was cyber bullying and mittens thinks it want.
as for him redacting the cyber bullying BS, either that Massively guy is a MASSIVE tool or he was threatened ahead of time with RL consequenses

Wrong.

Massively has nothing to do with CCP's standing policies or the actions of a player before the story is ever written. I'm not going to pretend to know CCP's motivations beyond their EULA/TOS. But, Mittens clearly violated it, apology not withstanding. That CCP waited until Massively reported the incident to ban Mittens has no direct correlation to their actions although, I'm sure it might have had an indirect influence but no more so than the outrage that exploded onto the forums.

Mitanni is lucky......LUCKY that he only got a 30d ban. Many others have experienced much less leniency in similar such instances in much less public venues and whom have much....MUCH less influence over so many other players. Think about that.

NICE Im being called down for paraphrasing what HE said on EVE Radio. If I knew the quote Id have used that but cause I didnt off hand, I didnt want to have a Goon lawyer later on jump on me for misquoting the Holy One

Goons; infiltration at its best - first bob... now ccp itself. They dont realize you guys dot take this as "just a game". Bring it down guys, we're rooting for you.

To keep a thread going for so long there must be p0rn in an Easter egg somewhere...
So where is it?

Note: I know this post does not contribute in any constructive way to this thread...but it is not different than 2/3 of what I read so far

Why does anyone care about this guy?

Being King of the "internet cool" losers still makes you an "internet cool" loser.

And you're surprised when you put these people in an actual social situation they are incapable of restraint, tact and where you draw the line between edgy and hilarious vs offensive jerk wad?

Blaming alcohol? I'm 33 and I've been drunk more than my share of times. Alcohol doesn't make you do bad things, it makes you not care about the consequences of doing what you've wanted to do all along.

As for "playing an internet villain"?? Yeah, that's all role play right? It's not you acting out your real personality doing things that would get you punched on the street. It's the same thing as blaming the alcohol, you're not apologizing you're DEFLECTING. There is a difference.

It's you, we all know it. Don't apologize for your actions, apologize for being who you are. If you didn't know it and just realized, don't worry, we all did this whole time. Maybe up until this point your ego didn't let you see the truth, but the truth is you just have a crap personality and moral structure. You fail as a human being.

But you can succeed at internet space ship politics! I'm sure that gives someone as bankrupt as you some comfort.

Yeah, "apology" received. (not that I cared about the offense to begin with, or know all that many details about it)

Want to write a good apology? Log off the interwebs and write your mom a letter apologizing for wasting any potential she may have tried to give you.

Trying to save face here only makes you look worse, because everyone knows how insincere it is. Like you won't go out tomorrow and continue to drool and spew the drivel that makes you so "internet cool", encouraging the same uninspired unoriginal behavior out of your ilk.

The Mittani wrote:
This has been hanging over my head since Thursday when I stumbled away from the Alliance Panel with a vague sense that I had done something horrible. I didn't know the extent of how much of a shitheel I had been until today, when footage of the presentation went up. As many of you now know, I gave out the in-game character name of a Mackinaw miner if anyone had wanted to blow him up - except that I was so smashed that I didn't recall exactly what I said (as anyone who was there can tell you). When I came to the forums the other day and saw threads complaining about my behavior - not remembering what I'd said - I assumed that I was enduring the usual anti-Goonswarm trolls, and posted something like "deal with it~" in my usual "The Mittani" way.

Then I landed, and saw the article listing my actual quote.

Christ.

I feel absolutely ashamed of my behavior at the Alliance Panel. It's one thing to play a villain in an online roleplaying game - when I post on these forums or on twitter, I usually do so as 'The Mittani', and do my level best to convince everyone that I'm an unrepentant space villain, as that kind of facade provides an in-game advantage to me and my alliance. But I am not that character in real life, as anyone who has met me can attest. I went way, way, /way/ past the line on Thursday night by mocking the Mackinaw miner at a real-life event. I, as a person, am not the entity that I play in EVE; I am not actually a sociopath or a sadist, and I certainly don't want people to kill themselves in real life over an internet spaceship game, no matter what I may say or do within the game itself. CCP may say 'EVE is Real', but EVE is not real - and the line between the game and reality should not be overstepped.

I'm relieved to discover that the Mackinaw miner is doing fine and mining away, despite being blown up by Goonswarm in-game. He deserves, and he has, my heartfelt apologies - here in public as well as a private apology. There's no excuse for what I did - while some might try to use my inebriation as a mitigating factor, I put myself in that compromised mental state, and the guilt of that is entirely mine.

If I could go back in time and not have included the slide mentioning the miner, I would do so. While the Eve Online character "The Mittani" would never apologize for any sort of villany in game, I myself, as Alex Gianturco, feel utterly ashamed and sickened by my behavior.

This guy totally didn't just self-indulge.

Same here, because I honestly can't find it.
I sometimes wonder if any of you actually saw the video of if you are just jumping on the cyber-bullying bandwagon.
All he was doing is making a joke in refferal to the hate mail he got, and maybe I am the only one who thinks so, but I have my doubts that Mittens actually wanted the guy to kill himself IRL. I ganked people, canfilpped people, and now I am in the united, and I can tell you that hate mails like that one are not uncommon. People often pull the "I want to kill myself" card when they are really just pissed they lost their ship because of being brain-afk.

So now just because someone was offended, the CSM candidate who has by far the most votes has to resign? Just think about it for a moment, he has more than double the amount of votes the second guy has.
Issueing a ban for a violation of the EULA (which doesn't apply out of game) is one thing, but removing the president of an institution made to represent the players opinions isn't correct. They didn't vote him in there and yet they remove him, how is that for democracy? Now I wouldn't complain about it a bit if there would have been a proper impeachment procedure where the playerbase, or the rest of the CSM as their representatives, decided that Mittani can no longer properly represent them. But right now it looks a little bit like a constitutional monarchy where the monarch dismisses the head of the Parliament all by himself.

Alice: Geez, Bob, you taunted the Goons and now they want to kill you. Bob: Should I call the police? Alice: In game, Bob, kill you in game. Bob: Ah, so petition it and call the police?

Ahhhh the game of EVE. It can bring out the worst and the best in people. A very quite IT tech at work during the day. In EVE a Custom killer with no remorse. In the community of EVE all is Fair game And at Fanfest it counts double. Drunk or not RL stinks and debts must be paid in full. Fate will decide his Punishment.

Classic Goon on Goon action!

I would like to thank myself for doing this to myself. Thank you, thank you everybody!

This is baffling though, the whole point of the Goons, nay EVE in general, is to grief. Day in day out. griEVEf play online

So why then do we have so many delicious goon tears and full diapers? Ive never seen a group cry so much over a video game.
