DUST: What will the planets hold?

This is really making me curious. What is going to be so valuable on the planets that is going to make people want to actively spend resources to take control of the planets? What is going to make people want to only wipe the surface clean with a bombardment as a last resort option?

Anybody get an answer during fanfest?

Only temperate planets in lowsec, for faction warfare system control.

I've wondered this from the beginning of PI. Even today, the income from one planet in a month is equal (at best) to an hour of ratting or l4's. I don't see any economic incentive behind planetary invasion, at least not on a scale to support a full population of dust players.

This is what I'm saying! Surely CCP has thought about this right?

Every week I produce enough materials that with an Ice Miner, can make 60mil worth of Fuel Blocks from PI
Plan on moving my operation to Low-Sec after a schedualed Customs Office bash, but been told that it is possible to earn 150mil ish per week from it... will have to see.

Still while I agree just running the missions will bring a higher income, making the money motivation relatively low.
Now from what I understand DUST 514 divides planets up in to a Hexgrid, so perhaps we could see PI changing (again) to where we are fighting over control of these Grid Hexagons, for where our PI would be located.

Anyone who does PI knows that there are relatively small areas of the planet that are considerbly higher yield than the rest, so that might help to push for a war if only one person can control these areas. Something else that might help push for people to want to control areas is perhaps a mini-civilisation / sim-city aspect to PI where DUST players fight over the facilities but you can expand your corporate influence to other areas to own the land (in the same way you can own the Customs Offices) with people paying rent and public opinion there mattering to how efficient your output becomes.

It is most likely out of everything out PI will be the core materials for building DUST hardware, meaning they'll be fighting so we can make them hardware so they can keep fighting. One of those Nasty Catch 22 situations, only with a nice fat pay-cheque for us at the end.

What i know sofar about DUST
tells ME that it is nothing more
than BF competion matches..

It could be SO MUCH more but
i dont see either corp CCP or
SONY doing what the players
ACTUALLY want...

As, i want to be able to fly a
fighter with a joystick..

Will never happen....

Did you just not watch the DUST panel at fanfest? DUST will be absolutely nothing like that at all. You aren't posting in the right thread anyway, this is about what will be on the planets.
