^^This single move to say can flipping in noob systems is bannable is a move towards great things CCP!!!!

New players are the life blood of eve; vets don't want to keep seeing the same vets every battle, every failscade. Thank you for allowing some of our newer players to have real rookie systems. The brutality and learning curve in high security (being as it is truely more dangerous than null sec) is so intense that a single can flip; or retrieve gank will make an intelligent person quit eve. This is not beneficial to anyone, even the ganker is merely padding a bad killboard and gains nothing but 30 seconds of laugher while eve losses a potential occupant to null sec down the road.

I disagree.

I'd say it's the stupid people that ragequit when they've gotten ganked by a can-flipper. And the slightly less stupid are the ones that come on the forums whining about how hard and unfair this game is. But I guess both are not smart enough to see the bigger picture and realize it's just part of the game.

It's like complaining a game of chess is too hard and unfair because the knight can jump over other pieces... but perhaps you don't like chess either.

The point of the post brosef isn't to stop ganking. But merely that truely new players will fall victim to say the CFC burn jita campaign (which by all means i support more than 100%). What I was saying the acknowledgement of rookie systems as being protected areas, not just form GCC via concord, but from griefing via some moral standards set by CCP toward these rookie systems. If you asked me; a truely new player should have somewhere he can be a carebear for a month ot 2 safely and get the eve bug. Whereas if the same player tries to start eve during a ' burn the noobs campaign '; he'll quit - or hopefully join these pyros burning HS (doubtful given eve's spy/metagame nature). He's not quitting because the game sucks or because he's some ' puss ' he quits because the human psyc will always withdrawl from emotional chaotic situations if there is no emotional attachment already established. I don't play eve to troll; I play it to simulate a war game in space. Yet my war simulator isn't advertised as such; most people come here thinking it's safe and subsequently will leave after they've wasted months to become a miner or something.

Where is a solution to keep HS PvPers happy (omg i lol so hard when i read HS PvPer)

Here it is - move to null sec?!

Old rule and a good one.

Canbaiting new players in rookie systems is the lowest you can get in EVE.

To use your example, the new player hasn't had time to learn what the various chess pieces are capable of. It's rather a cheap shot to beat your opponent when he hasn't had a chance to learn the most basic rules of the game first.

Did you mean to say "This will be dealt with," of CCP Mitnal fame?

I have years of undocking hanging outside the station and reporting can baiters in Durapant behind me. It's kind of like AFK mining but infinitely more fun.

Occasionally, I will sit beside the can until the owner convos me and tries to convince me to take the stuff. That convo goes into the petition and gets sent to his CEO. I've gotten plenty of peeps banned and corp kicked over the years.

Oh, please! You can't click a single button without getting either a tutorial or a warning in your face. As for GM hammering down on people that try to scam/bait newbies, that started around the time the number of starter-systems were reduced and the tutorial was implemented.

FYI the newbie tutorial from Second Genesis, was one mission to shoot a NPC (with it's own Tutorial Attack Drone), one to mine some ore and one to bring some cargo to the next system. That was all! Perhaps the increasing whining about griefers (or actually it stays the same but the game is getting much easier) is because the newbies get cuddled too much.

I'd rather face an opponent that at least has learned the basic rules, and has gained some insight as to just how ruthless the EVE player base is.

If that doesn't appeal to you, then you need to resign yourself to being in the minority.

I personally am one of the biggest proponents of keeping EVE a brutal place to live, especially when such a large portion of the player base refuses to act sensibly to protect themselves even though they have a pretty good idea of how dangerous the universe is and what can be done to protect themselves.

However, they need to get to that point first before it becomes sporting... or in most peoples definition, fun. It also helps ensure a larger population of mature (and wealthier) gamers to prey upon later.

Think of it as a conservation of resources. Smile

I have gotten some of my best fight from other can flippers in rookie systems. Or those showing off their brand new faction battleships.

Although I will not flip from a player less than a month old, unless he is in a corp and they are in system with him.
