Implants: Active and Passive points

Hello

While watching all the Fanfest videos i remembered something that always hoped would be implemented in EVE. It is based around the implants and how so many people playing EVE only come online to add skills. Since other MMO games use XP for levelling they implement an XP boost for "rested" characters. Giving people who work and cant play all the time a chance to catch up

With EVE this is flipped on its head. Everyone levels up the same, only implants or the attributes map differs.

My suggestion is to add implants that have a base or passive attribute points which are used when the pilot is offline. When the pilot comes online and activates that clone the implant provides a boost in attribute points while the clone is kept active. This way playing eve becomes even more REWARDING :D

Different styles of active points implants

Implant Style A: Multiple implants with Normal implant points + 1 to 3
Implant Style B: Single implant that has: 3 passive points + 2 extra points when clone active

No. Changing SP gain for being {on|off}line is a horrible idea that would break Eve's SP progression. There have been lots of them suggested, they're all bad.

And there is a reward for actively playing Eve, it's the ability to have fun and/or make ISK. That's all the incentive there should be to log on.

It would break SP progression in what way?

Please review the skill system as it currently is.

Overall SP =/= better player.
Plus, the system is currently designed to allow newer players to match an older player within a given specialty within a relatively short period of time... and allows younger players to stand their ground (or get away more easily) with smaller ships (which are easier to specialize one's skills for) as ships are balanced against one another.

The "rewards" in EVE come from actually playing the game rather than gaining skills.
Talk to people. Devise tactics to get around your weaknesses and/or better apply your strengths. Find easier ways of making ISK. Etc.

See skills in the same light as you see your ships... as mere tools. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I always had a feeling that there was a reason why the XP Boost system that other mmo's have was not used in EVE besides the obvious. Thanks for reminding me that its because EVE does not need such incentives to be played more often and that is not about grinding your skills.

Thanks for bringing me back. I almost joined the dark side lol

Try reading any one of the dozens of SP progression threads out there, they're not hard to search for. There are TONS of reasons against it that you haven't bothered to read.
