Dust 514 @ PAX East?

(I'm posting this here devoid of an actual Dust Forum to ask this question)

I live in the North-East quadrant of America and I was not able to attend Fan Fest this year, unfortunately. Now, I realize that CCP wishes to promote Dust 514 as a AAA shooter title, and they promoted the hell out of it at Fan Fest (and E3 before that). PAX East is next weekend, and I booted up the Con floor plan, thinking that CCP would obviously be there as an easy way to get more publicity for Dust to a population not already close to the EVE universe (ie the people NOT at fanfest or dont even know WHAT EVE is). It seemed like a no-brainer that they would be there! Sadly, I was unable to find them in the listing. I was hoping to get a closer look and maybe actually get a hands-on of Dust at PAX. I guess my question is: CCP, why are you not promoting a game title you want to go public so badly at the largest stage for unveiling and showing off new games in the eastern part of America?

tldr: Y U NO BE AT PAX EAST CCP?

mabye it will be under the Sony tent. May make sense to use larger company recognition America for simple brand recognition.

CCP and SONY both have dropped the ball HARDCORE on advertising DUST

Trhink about all the other AAA fps that hit the market....how far in advance do you hear about them? see TV ads? Internet ads?

Now, think about how many TV and Internet ads you've seen for Dust....

0 thats how many. They think they are going to release it and the flood gates are going to open, when the vast majority of the AAA fps demographic doesnt even know what Dust 514 is, and especially don't know what Eve is.

CCP I'm actually quite ashamed with your advertising strategy of "Keep hush hush until release date, then try to advertise"

IMHO, the fact that they have kept so quite with their advertisements tell me that DUST 514 will NOT be coming out this summer.

I could see if they didn't have anything to show. But, just LOOKING at the awesome cinematics they've created so far, its really mind boggling on the marketing front why they are not pushing their products (or at LEAST teasers) on the public stage. Fan Fest was NOT a public stage. CCP is going to need a lot more hype for Dust if it wants to be a AAA FPS and not a niche game like EVE is.

We hear about most of those games significantly in advance...but the ads only come out five-six months ahead of time. By that time, the game is almost completely finished, it's just waiting on production red-tape, volume sales, maybe some final bug fixes, etc.

We heard about this game significantly in advance. We don't have a release date yet, so we can't judge advertising timeline.

They do, however, have a significantly smaller market to target than most AAA titles: PS3 players, instead of cross-platform. There is already a decent amount of word-of-mouth hype among PC players, simply because Eve is pretty famous. Whether that has passed into PS3 land is unknown (to me), but they have done some twitter Q&A and such using PS Home.

I'm sure they're fine.

I can tell you, it's been floating around PS3 land for a while now. At least among circles of players that could be the serious guys working in nullsec one day.

Free to play plus eve players avidly picking it up.
In addition to the mass of one time casual eve players who will pick it up they will have plenty.
Besides the fewer at launch the easier beta access is.

If CCP continues to work and support it after launch anywhere near as well as EVE then they will have zero problems with getting players.

I think the Sony Marketing & PR department is far too busy directing CCP to portray certain individuals as total cunts and a blot on the gaming convention landscape as opposed to even thinking about marketing their fail-games.

Could we move this to the children's section? Thanks.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.
