Hi guys

So yesterday i was out roaming in null sec alone with my new crusader. The fitting was as following

[Crusader, AB brawler]
Heat Sink II
Small Armor Repairer II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Damage Control II

1MN Afterburner II
Initiated Harmonic Warp Scrambler

Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency

Small Energy Burst Aerator
Small Energy Collision Accelerator

It worked out well, if the stabber fleet issue i engaged as my first fight wasnt a dual rep fittet i could have killed him, he didnt hit me, and i had killed all his drones
But the next target i found was a Taranis, i unfortunately died when hed was getting into hull. what do you guys think of my Crusader fitting with a AB? my plan is to orbit the target inside of scram range and try to reduce the damage when i fly around

Fit is standard apart from meta lvl, lol.

Tactics against Taranis is to keep at range 8-9km. Will work against any Taranis xept AB+web.

I think Im not allowed to post the killmail itself,
however my corpmate who killed you have a lot of experience flying Taranis...

In my personal opinion afterburner works nice - but only against the right oponents. The crusader to me is a fast ship with solid range. The Taranis with blasters is a short ranged hard hitting nugget. Your best chance of killing a Taranis is kiting him at a range where he has trouble hitting you, but where your range still does good damage. In this case AB is the wrong choice. You do not want a blaster ship getting close to you...

When going up against bigger ships the afterburner might give you the edge you are looking for :-)

There's no rules on the forums against posting KMs, unless your corp/alliance has rules against it for some reason. And if that's the case I'll keep you out of trouble by linking the KM: http://darknessdescend.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12887865 (with a pilot's name and the ship lost/killer's ship, it's quite easy to find KMs). The forums break the ampersand symbol in links. So you'll have to copy-paste the link.

As to the AB fit. I've found I like AB fits a lot too. The extra speed of a MWD drive is only really worth it if you're kiting.

You don't actually "have" to keep a Taranis at range... you can opt for merely delaying him from getting at proper range and tracking conditions...

Back when the shield extenders were changed to eb useful, (2006 or early 7 I guess) I got a few Tarinis kills and 1% loss against a Taranis and Kestrel 1v2 in a Crow buy following this strategy...

Basically run at him with full speed and guns blazing. His dps really kicks in when the two ships have stoped bungeeing to and fro by which time if you have decent 8-9km dps you have him at half structure... then you pray your med shield extender holds longer against 300dps than his half structure with 60% resisst against your anaemic dps...

Used to work out well for me but haven't tried it in a good while...

Edit: this was before scrams deactivating mwd so I guess today it would fare even better as I lost a few mails (after people learned the fit I was using) by simply outrunning me as I had no web...

well first hand. cheers for a cool scrap and aktually being a slippery eel to get hold off:=)

was aktually expecting a long range pulsesader. the fit you linked is surprisingly good after i gave it some thought.
only problem is target choice here. any frig that allows it self to be webbed by a ab ranis is dicing with death.
you realy wanna keep him at some sort off range to force the use off null.

personally i realy like the scram/web + ab combat ceptors. it is realy a nasty surprise to many people.

ps: hit me up for any 1v1 rematches ingame. Enjoy a good fight any day

Believe in god. Trust in antimatter:=)
