I don't disagree with the fact that his resignation benefits goonswarm, but again since you have little evidence you cannot state that it was the prime reason he resigned. Perhaps his ulterior motive was to resign to show remorse and he is merely placating his goons? I know I've done it in real life situations where I feel guilt over doing something, make up for it and then attempt to brush it off to save face with my less compassionate friends. Did he do that? I cannot say, that would make me like you, making baseless assumptions.

He doesn't answer to you, or anyone else on this forum. He wasn't compelled to make this apology by any sort of court of law or CCP, and he stood to gain no benefit from a standpoint in EVE, but he did it anyway.

The benefit he got from apologizing was he got the media monkey off his back. If he had refused to apologize, the gaming community would explode in drama. What he did was simply run damage control after he realized how notorious his actions had become, not what they were.

Benefiting Goonswarm was the exact reason he resigned, and the link in my sig proves it. It is a leaked letter of Mittani's evemail to Goonswarm about this fiasco, and the forum goons have acknowledged its validity.

As the former CSM, he as of late does not have to answer to the EVE community anymore. However, during his drunken rambling he WAS the CSM Chairman and absolutely answers to us; the CSM is the elected body of representatives by and for the players. He is by right of office, THE official representative of the playerbase to CCP. And whether you like it or not, he is also the representative of the playerbase to the gaming community simply by virtue of the voting process. The players voted him in, he represents the players. Did he have to apologize? If he ever wanted to be a community leader again, yes.

He didn't step down because of his actions. He stepped down to benefit Goonswarm.
