Fanfest 2013 - Don't turn it onto blizzcon

Hey ccp, don't take the fun out of fanfest and sanitize fanfest into a child safe, dull blizzcon like event. Your dev blog sounds like you're going to. It would be a shame if you turned it into those dull and dry events other publishers put on.

Remember who put you where you are ccp, it wasn't marketing directors or creepy rubber faced people at Sony.

I second this, I intend on going to fanfest next year, and if its not like the last 2 years I have watched on the stream I will be extremely disappointed. If the TOS/EULA apply to fanfest, then the cold dark future of space should have its feeling there too.

I suspect that will be the case now.

Stage managed by Sony unfortunately, PG rated.

Unlikely that they would unveil a "HTFU" again.

Put drunk people on stage then you pull trickery that they are supposed to represent CCP according to the EULA/TOS in the real world - huh?

Last night I posted on this forum and someone told me to kill myself. Where is their 30 day ban?

Lets hope they only apply to the alliance panel.

The guys I know who've gone generally go by the principle that everyone is blue at Fanfest anyway. We shouldn't let one little mistake,or pressure from marketing types change what has always been a great event; and an event no other publisher does, because they're all sanitised and for children.

CCP sold out to the corporations, so no more drunk quiz shows or CCP sponsored Pub crawls because alcohol is the devil

Seems fine to me. Out of all the people who attended how many where in violation.

Answer: 1 extreme minority case and now resolved. And not necessarily attributable as a cause.

Problem = imaginary.

Only time will tell. Sony doesn't like to get negative press and the might see it as a potential source if there are Dust players and PS related press there next year.

Remember Dust players will be 90% prepubescent children.

I think we should have a drunken blob brawling outside next fanfest.

In a years time, all this will be a distant memory.

We'll all be moaning about whatever release comes after Inferno and why they changed missile names again!!

No matter what happens to the fanfest now, there is only one really important truth everyone should remember:

The 'community' brought this upon themselves.

Honestly, wouldn't worry about this. What I could think of is some kind of timeshift for things like the alliance panel or probably more strict regulations on possible topics - or simply a policy set up in advance. Why would/should they change stuff like Q&A sessions and the like? There's absolutely no reason, even if you overreact. I could imagine of some general timeshift (so stuff kann be beeped for example) but other than that, I wouldn't expect any massive changes.

It wasn't a debacle. It was successful but you know what major corporations are like with their knee jerk reactions and public image problems, especially Sony. Imagine if they stopped the parties and drinking next year. Half the fun is going out drinking and partying with people who make the game. It makes CCP what it is, not some asshat developer only bothered about one thing...profits.

A minority of loud mouths on a forum did and a bunch of minor news sites on the same feed helped.

Forums make up a very small part of any online community; as little as 5%. Most EVE players have never even been here. I think they even put stats out about this a few years back.
