They wouldn't be highsec carebears if they had the mental capacity to do something other then mine and whine Pirate

People who want to support Mittens in this should have stopped when he apologized, to make his apology more believable. Maybe some of them actually get that?

Maybe if his haters had stopped too rather that chasing their own agenda capitalising on a mistake then that would have happened.

No, there weren't. As someone who has battled with depression and suicide, what was said is not acceptable coming from a political position of power; however, the player in question did not actually take his life (thank whatever deity you believe in, life is precious no matter what). Thus, we are left with a potential PR disaster. Why not use it for the good of the game? Who loses but Goonswarm? (Even then, that's debatable. Goons need us pubbies to grief.)

I don't support cyber-bullying or any kind of bullying by any means. But isn't this whole suicide-thing gotten a bit out of hands? We still don't know whether the guy really was suicidal, or was he just faking it to get away from the situation.

Although, it is a good time to think about what really happens in EVE. Because for certain, Goons aren't the only people in the game doing this kind of stuff...

Haha I can see it now, a ragtag, poorly coordinated pubbiefleet running into a wall of alphafleet with drakefleet support.
I think i know how that's going to end.

OP please visit this site, as the thinner stuff just doesn't seem to be working as well.

It can go a third way...

People will stop being butthurt about video game things, find something else (in the same video game) to be butthurt about and it will be business as usual.

the apology is not meant to convince you that mittens is a repentant sinner but is an important step to reduce the pressure on CCP and give the media something positive to quote.

whether us eve players believe it or not is relatively unimportant - and within goonswarm of course an entirely different view of events is communicated (they are circling the wagons) than what is communicated to the media.

politicians apologize all the time, nobody believes they are serious about it but yet the apologies work. it's a ritual.

Never gonna happen. To much bitterness in the anti-goon squad.

After all, Mittens nerfed their titans, ganked their Mackinaws, and scammed them out of everything they had!

Not to mention led the most successful coalition Eve has ever seen. When you arnt on the side of somethign powerful like that, then hate can get the better of you, capitalising on the most appalign of things even when i truth you care nothing about it, when all you can see is how you hate somoene you will use any weapon against them.

How the weak hate weakness.

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

Apologies are not a ritual, they might be to those that are insincere and an insincere apology is meaningless.

People can judge (rightly or wrongly) if a person's apology is sincere or not based on the known actions and character of the person giving the apology. Which is why a lot of people don't see the apology from The Mittani as being sincere.

That's where you're wrong.

Which is where? In the two potential paths? Or that this is a flamewar between pubbies and Goons?

Either the causehoars will cry so loudly that CCP and Sony's relationship may be damaged, EVE will suffer, and DUST will be a flop; OR, we use the upswing of anti-Goon fervor to generate legitimate and engaging In-Game RP, create an awesome PR moment for CCP, and show DUST players why EVE is the champion of bad***ery and emergent gameplay.

In the spirit of "EVE is Real," I say we take the hate into space, and take the fight from the forums to the Goons themselves. So what if they have the single largest armada in EVE, that just makes the achievement all the more worth it. Britain had the world's greatest army and navy, and yet a ragtag bunch of colonists kicked the tea and crumpets outta 'em. Maybe New Eden could take a few lessons from that.

So join me. Join the Anti-Swarm. From many, one; one goal, many approaches. Let the fight begin!

It isn't a flame war. Mitt clearly violated the terms he agreed to when becoming a member of the CSM. Maybe he should have taken such incidentals more seriously. Maybe he applies to real life the same wanton disregard he applies to this game. Whichever the case, he agreed. He violated said agreement.

It is now a matter of CCP enforcing the terms of this agreement, as they do to us with the EULA and TOS.

It isn't clear, regardless of CCP's cosmetic move to "investigate" the matter, whether CCP is safe from civil or even criminal liability. To keep Mitt is to sanction Mitt. I doubt CCP's legal beagles think he's that important to the bottom line. (They could be the only people considering this that aren't certifiably delusional!)

These posts, rapt with the idea some show of hands by EVE players has any standing in this situation just prove how out of touch the wizards of New Eden are with the world they actually live in.

And that would achieve what exactly?

The apology is out of character and what he was posting before the apology tends to back that up. He weakened his apology even before he made it.

What law? Which statute of said law(if it even exists)applies to this situation?

And how did the Mittani agree to it as part of joining the CSM? Is it Icelandic law or something? If so, I am surprised he was able to get on the plane and go home.
