What's the CSM to you?

CSM is a group chosen by the active playerbase to assist CCP in game development, mainly as a springboard for new ideas, and to assist in communication with the players to both directions.

What worries me that there are now two block-voted members who I've never ever even heard about until they suddenly appeared on the CSM7 elected names list.

Agreed. I'm afraid the CSM means very little to me. I'm sure they deserve more then I think they do, but only because I don't think they deserve much.

A loud group of people who mostly have 0.0 alliance gameplay in mind, elected by their constituent alliances.

For the record I'd like to drop all high sec income by a flat 50%, so I'm not trying to say "wah wah I want more carebear stuff", it just seems like industry, trading, the economy, mining, missions, or anything non-PvP just aren't on their radar at all.

bump! Personally, I don't care if CCP keeps it's public relations dog and pony show. I think the consensus, the list of apologists on this thread signifying a minute minority, is that the CSM doesn't represent the player base. If CCP wants input about the ENTIRE game, not just a select few's minority report, they'll consider changing how the CSM is selected, lose the "let's meet in Iceland" feature, and even rename it to erase any vestiges of this current debacle.

As I've said before, that would require intelligence to be operating in this arena, which it is not.

So one thread is enough to convice you of something you already believed, you don't say...

Are you asking a question or telling me what the CSM is to me? I'm not quite clear from your post what you're doing because the topic asks a question, but your first line tells me what the answer is ...

"Believe"? The word you're searching for is "understand." It doesn't take a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. It didn't take a forum thread for me to reach this...understanding. Maybe it does for you.

If you're finding this difficult to grasp it might behoove you to confine yourself to posts reflecting your order of simplicity.

CSM7 needs a complete revote now that aprox. half the total votes have been nullified

If you were paying attention to this forum since November of last year, I was actively agitating for changing how the vote is administered, inviting suggestions to attempt representation of a wider spectrum of players. I was challenging the bloc vote that was certainly on its way, along with the various subterfuges that were destined to occur. I was screaming about how the previous CSM had proven it cared not a whit about anyone but its own narrow interests, and how hypocritical it is of CCP to hold up the CSM as a mechanism that provides player input to its developers.

These posts of mine were naturally set upon by the self-same people who would engage in the bloc vote.

I also tagged all my posts with things like "Vote for me for CSM! I don't give a damn about anyone but myself!" and various other concoctions of the same sentiment. "I must qualify since I don't have a clue about you!" (This I of course stole from Richard Pryor's Brewster's Millions - someone else beat me with a "None of the Above" ID.)

Where were YOU?

Playing a spaceship video game. Who do you think came out ahead when it comes to wisely spending their time?

Interesting Goonwaffle observation. I managed to get five chapters of a novel written during all this.

No, I grasp it alright. You are opening with a question, answer it through a statement that clearly highlights your narrow viewpoint without offering an opportunity for discussion and then denigrate. It seems like a typical troll thread. No worries though, the CSM means something to me and I'm not a buddy of anyone that was elected.

And judging by the rest ... yeah. Issues, issues, issues all around.

Deployed a new datacenter for my company that will cut down our power consumption by something on the order of 75% while also making all of our systems double redundant, doubling our backup capacity and ensuring that we have business continuity should our primary site fail. Prior to me coming into the environment the entire company was one raid failure away from losing all of their data and shitcanning 300+ employees.

So uh congrats on your little book I guess.

Quite not what I was expecting, but good job. Both equally good provided the writing of the other party is good. I myself during all of this am working on an engineering degree.

Oh, and again, gj, in this economic recovery, doing so is doubly awesome. Saving jobs, cutting costs and the more.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

The average age of a SomethingAwful.com member is 35. Most of us are professionals of some form or another. Hell we have major subforums just for Doctor Goons to hang out and talk Doctor Things. We have threads where actual rocket scientists will sit and answer any dumb questions people have about.... well rockets. We do the things we do here because they are effective. And it's really easy to rile up snobby people who mistakenly believe they are better than us just because we successfully scammed them, or kicked them out of space (Yeah I know, it makes no sense).

A lot of the really "Nerdy" things eve players do are actively frowned on by us. While we have people who do it, as a general group we make fun of folks who take this game too seriously. We make fun of people who alarm clock ops, or call out sick to work possibly putting their real job in jeopardy for space pixels. We don't do Red Pen ops where we ban anyone found ratting while a war is fighting. We're here to enjoy the game, if one of our members thinks ratting is more fun than listening to an FC talk about his sexual conquests, his dog, or both at the same time... we're fine with that.

Whenever we say people "Don't get us" it's because they view our trolling at face value.

I was never impressed with techno-weenies. You rattled that off as though you actually did some work.
Let me know when you do. *golf clap*

Oh..and insofar as your "we" (SA) follow-on. You've aptly described the warren of egotists we all knew you to be. You coulda saved the bandwidth if you're so concerned about the saving (75%) of anything. (Loves how buying lotsa new hardware and plugging it in can be made to seem like a miracle! Single-handedly saved 300+ jobs? Can I touch your cape?)
