Question about the steam offer.

Hi.

I was wondering if I invite a friend with the 21 day trial, can he use the steam offer to upgrade to a full account and get an additional 30 days ? (for a full 51 days) I know i've read something about this somewhere...but can't find it anymore.

Atm eve is for 6.8euros on steam.

Yes, I did exactly this the other day. You also don't need to download the steam client either.

Yup, absolutely.

Source: Done it with other accounts in the past.

NB: There is a steam forum which details the nitty-gritty/fineprint/caveats.

he can do this but you won't recieve a plex or free month of playtime yourself. the rewards for buddy invite do not work with a steam key (dont ask me why, thats just silly, but thats how it is...)

This was not the case in the past. You used to be able to add steam keys to a buddy accounts and receive the rewards. Then there was a steam sale. People made tons of alts and got cheap game time. As a result they got the plexes/game time removed for abusing the system and steam was taken off the list for eglible payments for buddy programs.

Im wondering if you did this and the buddy then payed for one month after the steam 51 days would the person inviting get the reward at that time instead?

Basically months back, some real pros made a topic on these forums on how to exploit the Steam + buddy system sale and CCP nailed the loophole rather quick. It was funny how entitled the idiots talked too.

Well I know you wont get a free month at the time when they add the cd key but what about when they then pay for the game the first time?
I have heard about people that get the rewards later when they have invited a friend who have used the steam deal then continued to play, I just dont know if its true.

No, you only get the free month if they upgrade with PLEX or any of the other direct payment/subscription methods for the first month.
