How does the Industrial Party End?

I've started to lament logging into to update my queues.

So what did you do after you scaled back or flat out left the high-sec R&D/production sector of Eve?

I've been thinking of seeking a nullsec alliance for whom my characters' skill sets could be useful. While one Indy character is completely hauler/R&D/production the other is fairly adept at combat. I don't have a chip on my shoulder about it all yet, but I'm starting to flake.

I just need some incentive to make a transition, which may just grow and happen regardless. Please share your experiences.

I'm also kind of tapped out. I've been mining in high-sec a bit more lately and I like to read when I do so and I do industry remotely. I have also thought about 0.0 but the thing I have experienced is that it's expensive to move. No matter your skill level, it will be expensive. If you don't have a jump capable ship, then it's a huge pita. Then when sov changes or the alliance you are in falls apart, you end up having a ton of crap in a station/pos that you gotta move...again, pita.

The thing with "useful skills" to an alliance is that if it's all T2 or T3, you are going to do that in high-sec anyway. And joining a 0.0 alliance will just end up being wardec'd all the time for Jita gankers, which isn't good for you. I guess you could have jump skills, or work mining, etc but imo, 0.0 is more about pvp than anything else. So if you aren't willing to do that, you might be out of luck.

Wormholes offer some promise but they are almost all occupied from my experience. The nice thing about those is no sov to worry about and a small corp can run one easily (hell I did it solo for some time). Incursions are also a good break if you haven't done them. They can also have an industrial connection too.

Having skills to be able to fly a carrier and many other ships, I'll probably head back out to 0.0 sometime soon.

Thanks, you've raised a lot of considerations that had never come to mind. Very helpful.

If you're sick of high-sec production, the alternative is pretty much a wormhole, or a change of career. At least, until the proposed/promised change to industry takes place.
If all else fails, you can just run missions. But that's sorta boring.

Living in a WH solo can be fun. Personally, after I got bored with mining I decided to branch out and do as much as possible. So far I've done missions, lived in a WH, gone ninja ratting in 0.0, and gone exploring. Every couple weeks I end up getting bored so I just cycle between different things to keep it interesting. Sometimes I'll even just go off and spend a few days exploring in a loop around all 4 highsec areas. Another interesting thing to do for an afternoon is take a fast frig and see how far you can get into 0.0 before someone can kill you (or even do a tour around 0.0 if you're fast enough).

I'd suggest looking at this. Just pick something on there that looks fun and go do it.
