Unless the person called him on his space phone to threaten his space dog, then it might be a CCP issue. Roll

If it is connected to an in-game activity, CCP may not be able to do anything about it in terms of protecting him or his dog, but they can make damn sure the ****-head that does / did that is banned.

The hell?

Seriously. This is beyond the pale, even for you NPC corp cowards. Keep your little impotent rage in game where it belongs, using the fact that Mittani's real name is known to stalk and harass him and his family is just going too far.

We get it, you don't like Goons. Scaring a man's family and threatening an innocent animal? For shame.

IF this is really happening...it's wrong.

But don't spend your every waking in-game moment scamming, griefing and trolling every thread on this forum and expect anybody with any brains at all to believe ONE SINGLE WORD that ANY OF YOU say. Where the forums are concerned...goons are trolls and if this weren't happening to one of YOUR guys...you and your ilk would be all over this like flies on **** so spare us your indignant disbelief that it's finally coming back around.

He didn't violate the EULA/TOS by making a phone call. Its none of CCPs business, from a legal stand point, and they could be sued for said banning in some countries as a result.

Wish it were not true, but it is. Prencleeve got banned for posting Mittens' real info on the forums, but had he not done that to try and prove to everyone that he wasn't bluffing, CCP could not have done anything(tho Mittens could have filed charges for stalking/harassment with the civil authorities).

CCP has ZERO power of what players do to each other IRL, and cannot hold people accountable for that action.

Give one(1) example of goons attacking someones IRL dog or wife over something in EVE.

Closest I know of is FC who had power shut off to his house mid-fight, and I think BOB was behind it(tho I could be completely mistaken, I didn't follow eve politics back then)

I'm not referring to the alleged RL harassment - I'm referring to goons attempting to make serious posts on a forum which they regularly troll and expecting to be believed.

You can see a majority of the former in the 100 page thread ranting about how mean Mittani is, they keep posting, over and over, making up crap like how PVPing in a video game is actually illegal cyber bullying and other stupid crap

Would that be the thread in which you make several dozen posts claiming the Mittani did nothing wrong at all and that his comments were fine, before instantly changing your tune to fall in with the party line the moment he issued his 'apology'? I mean, it's not like you would post the same empty crap over and over is it?

b. The fact that people can't quite figure out there's a diff between "Mittani" and "The guy playing EVE who call shimself Mittani" is really kinda sad.[/quote

^^ Which one was on stage calling for a grief attack in the hopes of having another player commit suicide

Other than that, I agree with you on your initial accounts. No player should be stalked in real life.

That said, are you seriously trying to tell the general EvE population to stop being mean to the guy that blatantly called for someone to be pestered...to death?

Seriously, back that memorex tape up in your head, and play it again

The thing that bothers me the most is CCP's slow, and awful response. This should be done already. They need to seriously overhaul fanfest. When this gets to mainstream media (not geek gamers blogs) the excrement will hit the rotary device

The fact that CCP damage control was discussing an EvE Crisis Hotline....has anyone heard of this? Is it in the help menu? I cant even find a Google link... someone type suicide in local, maybe a GM or DEV gets online, Dunno
Maybe Aura knows

Don't mistake this rant for taking the issue lightly. I don't expect to see the name Mittani in EvE again, much less CSM. Regardless about how the drones may feel about him, he screwed up...badly. I don't care if it was Cyvok, Blacklight, or any other alliance leader now or then.

As for the dog, maybe Madison PD can put him in protective custody. Hes an innocent bystander in all this. Leave the dog alone

His drunken comment does not legitimize real-life threats and harassment against him.

Which is fine because there haven't been any that have followed from his comments, despite this threads manipulative attempt to imply otherwise. Read up and it turns out that the threats were in the past and are completely unconnected to the present issues.

Its actually a GM procedure, in any petition that has certain key phrases and trains of thought(and the line 'I am gonna kill myself if x doesn't happen' is not one of those flags).

Most customer service professionals get similar training, both in recognizing real situations and in handling them(usually handing the issue off to a professional counselor) especially in the MMO business because people take their games WAY too seriously.

I know of a petition(in a game that will not be named) where the player was going on how horde was evil and how could they ever be allowed to win, and trying to defeat their evil empire in the mighty alliance was the only hope he had left since his sister died in his arms. He did not once say he was gonna kill himself, but I know the cops were at his house within hours. THAT is a MMOs suicide hotline, the fact that the GMs are trained to recognize and respond to legit suicide issues instead of 'I'm gonna kill myself because my stuff blew up and goons are meanieheads'(which may sound familiar if you read the post that was shared at fanfest).

99.9% of suicide threats are actually emotional blackmail. Real suicides don't advertise because they want to succeed, and if you don't want to succeed you are not going to actually do it.

^^ You are a bit off base with that one.

Any suicide threat is a cry for help, and ignoring them is a very bad idea. Sometimes they do post up, or show obvious signs of distress...and they do go through with it. You should be helping anyone you see or know showing signs or symptoms of this kind of depression, and assuming it is just "emotional blackmail" is flat out callous.

That comment, even if it was sober, does not justify RL threats of violence against someone, especially not their wife or dog.

Most pre suicides do put out signs for help. They are either by, as you said, threats of it or by things such as generosity. Giving possessions and the like. Many times ranting about it is a means of release of tension. It is why they tell depressed and stressed people to talk about it. Just saying it relieves the issue. The writing of that letter when written doesn't even read to be that. It is worded like somebody who is working through issues and asking not to have the situation agrivated. However in the event of a vent, it can be pretty much the last bit of keeping it together. Harassment or taunting doesn't receive a response, and then it progresses to the 99.9%.

Threats of suicide is sort of the last step before that.

Cheers, fixed :D

Those faggots who cross the line in the name of revenge and threaten are even bigger assholes and should be permabanned.

But still it's true that actions have consequences, whether the consequences are a justified or not is irrelevant, when you can easily avoid them by not being an ******* to others in the first place.

Good deeds and bad deeds backfire sooner or later, it's up to us which ones we prefer.

This is actually my last post on the Suicidegate.

He posted an apology to the public and to the victim and admitted his mistake, it's all good. I hope it didn't hurt CCP too much, and I hope this incident helps to draw the line.

Im going to run for the CSM next year on the ticket of publicly molesting Mittans on stage at fanfest next year.

And also getting the CCP playerbase to go on diets and start shaving properly

I hoping to gain a lot of support
