OK,

The main idea behind Worm Hole Space is exploration. Being able to scout out unknown areas that hold unknown dangers and rewards. No local to know who is there. No way in or out without scanning.

While exploring the many Worm Holes I have been in, one thing becomes very obvious. Many corporations have come and gone. They leave a number of control towers and modules behind. Yet these control towers still have full resists and can not be removed except by the holding corporation.

Why can't this be changed to allow other players to scoop the old towers to resell? Say after 90 days of being off line the tower becomes open for anyone to scan down and unanchor?

I have even spoken to a number of CEO's who did not know were the tower was anymore. They laughed when the warning came in that I had shot it.

Just an idea on how to clean up space junk and make isk while out in WH space.

I don't have a link for you but in a dev blog CCP was talking about having sleeper fleets attack cold and active POS's

Allows for the use of Advance Hacking Modules to disable Control Tower Defenses
-5% cycle duration for Advanced Hacking Modules per Skill Level
+2.5% chance of Disabling Defenses

*Racial* Advanced Codebreaker
Allows for the Disabling of Control Tower Defenses
Note: Module can only be activated on a Tower with a Empty Fuel Bay.
Note: Can only be fitted to Black Ops Battleships

I rather prefer the idea someone else put up a while back that there should be an anchorable device for taking down inactive POS.

Basically you would anchor it outside the POS and the owner would have 2-3 days to fuel the POS or destroy the device. This way you can't instantly steal a POS while the owner is offline because they lapsed for a day. Then you come back and can reactivate the POS under your ownership or unanchor it and haul it off.

Yes, I can see what you are talking about. The only problem with this is that in WH space you don't normally stay in one system for days waiting for a module to take the pos down. That would be great in High Sec space to ensure that people don't loose a pos due to short game laps.

My idea is more specific to WH space. Since it is very different than empire.

Say you live in one WH and it has connecting holes that open and close. You could scout out those and if an older inactive pos was there you could "hack" it and take it away. Of course this would require a skill set and ship large enough to haul the tower away.

As stated in other posts, it would have to have a time amount to ensure that someone did not loose a pos due to short game laps. Even if that time was 6 months I am sure that it would ad a new scavenger type role to the game.

Maybe after "X" amount of time the pos would drop its corp affiliation allowing it to then be hacked and taken down by a player or corporation and then sold.

As for empire I love the idea of a module to "hack" off line towers.
