You can still hear the rocks crumbling and i am glad they changed the sound i used to zoom out just to get away from tjat annoying pulsating noise , this one is much better warning you when the miners start a new cycle

Thank you CCP for taking away that constant irritant, and reducing it to just a 'reminder'

But yeah I'll take the sound at the minimum

I have nothing against how it is now. The sound helps me so that I know when the ice harvester cycle starts again. This way I don't have to check it every 10 seconds. Lol

But I do miss the crackling sounds the asteroid did. Sad

I'd love to have the full cycle sound back.

I used to go mine for 30 minutes before bed to help make me sleepy. Big smile

I want the mining sound back. I write when I mine and I enjoyed the white noise, oh yes I did. It's no longer white noise. It's an interruption.

I remember how impressive it was warping into a belt and for the very first time hearing the fierce shound of a good sized mining barge gang. Then panning my camera around to see what the hell was making my 5.1 surround sound shake the house, seeing the the bright powerfull beams, big mining barges and enourmous Orca shadowing them all. All I had was a Catalyst fitted with lots of CPU upgrades and five mining lasers.

EVE lost a lot of character when the bugged alpha grade replacements where introduced with Incarna. I really miss the post Incarna Strip miner sound and colour and the asteroid crumbling sound.

I call them alpha grade because;
  • The sound is just a bugged mining laser sound,
  • The mining beams pass through hulls when your ship moves instead of moving to the appropriate turret.
  • There are no crumbling sounds on the asteroids.

  • I think a nice compromise on the beam colour would be to swap the blue and yellows around, making the big beam the yellow.

The people who want the constant noise back are out of their freaking minds. I love that it is only at the end and midpoint of the cycle.

Agreeing about the Sound problem...i miss the old one from the Strip miner....but what most annoys me is the old Stripminer visible Effect beeing downgraded to such a tiny little line going from your Migthy Roidcrusher to the roid.....I WANT THE IMPRESSIVE GRAPHIC BACK FROM MY STRIPMINERS!!!

You know what i mean....the big huge orange the roid consumating visual effect was the first one impressed me watching a retriver using it in a newbie System on a Roid and thougth 'I Soo Want one day to have such a giant thing consuming the Roids rigth away infront of me...before i'm even able to get a cycle finished.!

Please CCP bring the old sound and OLD GRAPHIC EFFECTS BACK or at least something similar and same Impressive!!!

The old thunderous howl of the strip miners was glorious. It gave a real sense of power to them.

I remember when I was new and the first time I had a Hulk warp in on my little Navitas with it's two Miner I's
Scared the **** out of me when he started those things up, though that was partially due to one going just about through my hull visually.

Since then I've fired, and heard the fire of a lot of guns in Eve. I still think the strip miner is king for sound. Or was, until CCP broke it.

    Profit favors the prepared

Exactly. At least for the strip miners, it should sound like a truly industrial-sized operation, ripping an asteroid apart, not a little beam pecking at a rock! I'd even like to see chunks of rock flying off, being propelled back up the beam, clanking off the intake ports as they're shoved down into the cargohold.

Also, for those who don't like a continuous noise, they have options (turret-volume option, zoom out, speaker-volume down), but those who want it, don't have any options at the moment.

And if you need to hear the start of the cycle, just have a power up/power down sound at the beginning/end of the cycle. (or perhaps, if the turret volume option is selected, have the short existing sound.)

Visually, I like the blue/yellow contrast, but it needs to be a lot bigger for a strip miner. And, of course, colours based on your crystals.

This signature intentionally left blank for you to fill in at your leisure.

have to say... just re-activated my a/c after a year's hiatus and went-to-mine...

i'm not an advanced player, just play it as a pass-the-time thing. i'm passive, i wander about for the atmosphere...

i MISS the sounds of mining. loads.

my miner isn't even making any sound or visuals*... i now have to watch the cargo all the time Sad

*edit: visuals now seem to be working, not sure what happened there - and i'm now getting the initial noise - but i still miss the constant "naaaaarrrrrrrrr" Smile

It seems like this has happened before...

It seems like EVE's slowly losing some of its art and audio assets. First ship trails, now this?

At the very least, the mining lasers' constant noises have been a part of the eternal nuance of mining. I thought CCP cared about the 'look and FEEL' of the game... And to the people who think that mining lasers were LOUD? There was a neat option to dampen turret noises, which included mining lasers and strip miners.

It seems like they've fixed the warping animation to an extent, but no mining lasers... It didn't take them too long a few years ago to fix the mining laser noises when they broke them to a worse extent, but that's possibly because it was more irritating to mine with pulse lasers.

This issue has been around for months, seriously... This is an Undocumented Feature. In layman's terms, a BUG.

Ship trails are being brought back, don't worry.

... i'm actually starting to get used to the quieter mining now, including using my active shield as Meryl suggested on the first page.

still, it'd be nice to have the option for continuous mining sounds as many people obviously prefer the silence - so i'll adjust my cosign to mean that Smile

Blasphemous blasphemy. That was most of the fun of flying frigates back when I was a noob. I was flying ships where the trails weren't really visible by the point where they were removed. The ship-trail drag was pretty fun when ships warped though.
